Expensive parking. Tourist tax like the rest of Scarborough, Whitby and the like. Visited area 7 years ago no such restrictions or high prices. 1 hour £2.60 not long enough to eat in the The Old Scalby Mill pub, 3 hours £5.30 , 6 hours £8.40 24 hours £10.80. Costs done scale up. For a meal at the pub maybe 2 hours but no option. Next to Sea Life most people wouldn't be there longer than 3 hours but it does add to family costs after admission fee. Disabled drivers have to pay,so most just park on the double yellow lines outside and don't care if they are in the way. Doesn't look like parking attendant/council parking enforcement bother with them. Disabled/blue badge holders can't park wherever they want it has to be safe and not in the way.
Scalby Mills is near sea cut (Scalby Mills) There is a large car park next to sea life it's a pay and display, or you can park up the top of the hill on Scalby Mills Road for free. Lovely views over the Scarborough North Bay and Scalby Ness for walking taking in nature.
Lovely views out over the North Bay of Scarborough, very scenic walks up the cliff side, well priced food and drink, the fish was lovely and the beef was cooked to perfection. Friendly staff, dog friendly pub.
Large long stay car park alongside the Sea Life Centre at the base of the hill. Disabled parking bays. Free to park for motorbikes, yaaay. Charges apply 7 days a week 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. 1-2 hours £2.20 3-4 hours £4.40 6 hours £7 24 hours £9 Or, do what I did and visit between 1 November and end of February and it's free to park, no charges apply. Job's a good 'un.
A shameful tourist trap - free to park outside of tourist season & reasonably priced if you realise it's pay and display. £25 if you don't. Literally services the sealife centre, Scarborough council should be ashamed of themselves.
