Boots

Not the biggest Boots but a reasonable size with well stocked shelves and a pharmacy. I went in hopeful of finding some 17 products but this is another Boots where it is not stocked. Not many staff around but the lady I spoke to was very helpful. Four stars because it was absolutely freezing in the store which has to make for a poor working environment for the staff; I certainly didn’t want to linger to look at alternative products.

Recently, just few days ago, I had to visit Scarborough branch pharmacy for some ear infection as my surgery advised to see the pharmacist as they couldn’t give appointment straightaway and asked to obtain advise. Well what a nightmare it has been, which meant to be pretty straightforward. I asked at the counter for the pharmacist and the lady who served me was asking one Asian oriental Woman ( that point I came to know she was the Pharmacist) how long before I can see her? She looked at me and said 20 minutes. I said, it’s fine, so I kept on waiting patiently. The pharmacist was serving at the prescription counter and was seeing the people who were waiting to see her. There was one lady was waiting to see her before me. The patient finished her turn and pharmacist kept busy herself with counter serving and time to time was looking at me, noticing that I was waiting. By that time another person came to see the pharmacist like me and was waiting next to me sitting in the chair provided. After some 30-35 minutes waiting the pharmacist looked at me stone cold and asked, “ Are you waiting ?” I was so stunned but I managed to say “ Yes” and to my astonishment she looked at the person next to me ( who came much after me) and approached with a smiley face and asked what’s the problem as if I was not even existed!! I felt so humiliated, embarrassed and shocked that I couldn’t even talk. I just left! Left behind 35 minutes of my time wasted , insulted and left without my problem even being addressed. I never experienced so much open racism ( was it racism or just plain ignorance of someone who doesn’t know what she was doing, who is in the wrong place or profession , I would never know ) in this country which left me bruised inside in the hands of an Immigrant person like me! WOW! Sorry for long review, but it had to be addressed.

Boots Opticians. I had a very good experience at Boots Opticians today and would especially like to thank Mohammed for putting me at ease and answering all my questions, and explaining all I asked in an easy to understand way, putting me completely at ease. And Rachel was an absolute star with her kindness, suggestions and patience in helping me choose my new specs and fitting them. I cannot recommend Boots Opticians, Scarborough, highly enough

A couple of months ago I came to Scarborough for an holiday but my little girl was unwell. Another chemist had shooed us out but when we explained what was wrong. The tall gentleman behind the counter, went above and beyond and managed to help us.

Bad attitude at makeup section. They were busy at chatting and I had to say excuse me twice to grab their attention. One of them didn’t look happy when seeing me and asked the other colleague to help me. I was literally just asking which project was the one I tested but still been treated with no patience. Is this their general attitude or it was because I’m not local?
