Scarborough

Scarborough is such a beautiful seaside town with so much to see and do for all ages. Two amazing beaches, a castle, harbour and a huge park with a lake and many other attractions to enjoy.

This was a great station for arrival and departure, with lengthy platforms for the express services! Departure boards are up to date and there is a large number of platforms still for a town terminus station, station name signs are well kept too. Navigation is easy through the directional signs and cleanliness was solid, nowhere to refill my water though apart from the shop.

I used a Transpennine train from York to Scarborough station recently as I had to get to Whitby and Scarborough station is the nearest station to Whitby, You collect a bus which runs every hour just outside of station to Whitby. Scarborough station is at the end of the line. There was building work going on when I visited, but it was ok. Toliets were on site, and the ticket office was just in the main entrance. From the station to the beach front walking takes approx 15 mins and to the town about 10 mins..

Scarborough is a lovely seaside town and the best way to be there by train because of beautiful scenic views. Railway Station is well maintained with facilities but atmosphere is but grumpy. Staff on station and bit strict rather than be friendly. Train service in good and on time by Northern and TP Express.

Freindly staff at the ticket office, small waiting area with coffee shop was nice and services are easy to find and suitably frequent. Unfortunately alot of building works on the outside and the inner platforms did spoil the visit a wee bit.
