The lodge (Squirrel) was spacious, warm and comfortable. It had a small but reasonably well equipped kitchen. There was no dishwasher which seems standard in hot tub lodge/cabins these days and no coffee machine, just a cafetier. A black mark for the lack of a corkscrew. An easy omission for them to fix but they hadn't, despite a mention of it in the comments book. The bedroom was huge, with a dressing area and very comfortable bed. The bathroom was okay but the half open shower design left the room flooded after use. The light and heater on the mirror was not working. The hot tub was very good and had fantastic views across a field to the west. This appeared to be the best viewpoint available on the site. The hot tub light didn't work and neither did the bulkhead light by the steps up to the lodge. Fairy lights on a wooden screen gave the only light to the hot tub area but they were blocked by the cover when it was folded back. Evening bathing required a torch, which wasn't provided (again a standard feature in all the lodges we have previously stayed at). This might sound negative but overall it was a great stay but little maintenance issues prevented it from being fantastic. I would have said 4 stars but our final evening was ruined by our neighbours in the next lodge. Three women appeared to be celebrating a birthday together but unfortunately they liked very loud music. We had to double the volume on the TV to drown out the squeals and t beat. To be fair they turned down the volume after 11pm but it was still very audible through the lodge's thin walls until about 2:30 am. I don't object to them enjoying their party but be warned, a lot of reviews praise Owlet's for its peace and quiet. For most of our stay it was amazingly relaxing, quiet and peaceful. Just beware though, the lodges are close together and not well sound insulated so if you get inconsiderate neighbours you might as well be in a town hotel next to a nightclub.
We stayed for 2 nights in Owlet Lodge and it was beautiful and had everything we needed. The lodge is perfect for dogs and has lots of space and an enclosed garden. We hired a nearby woodland area for half an hour to give the dog a run which is great if you are taking pets. Well worth a look it’s called Woodland Dog Field. The lodge is spacious and is well furnished. The kitchen had all of the appliances that we needed. Lovely and quiet and great for people wanting a couple of nights away to escape busy life. Not much nearby so you would need to drive if you wanted to go to the nearest town for food or drink. Communication with the host was excellent. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Lovely area, tucked away but a short drive to York and the surrounding villages. Had a great few days in Fox Lodge, very clean, great layout, and a hot tub as well. The area is very quiet and didn't hear a peep from our neighbours. Lovely little pond in front of the lodges with ducks to feed. I would highly recommend it.
From the moment we arrived at the Hedgehog lodge we felt at home , the lodge was immaculately clean , well equipped with everything you needed and was very spacious. The settting was very peaceful and if your after a relaxing break this is exactly what you get. The hot tub was a real bonus and was lovely to wind down in. Th location is remote but we knew this before booking however , you can travel to some lovely surrounding villages with if 10 mins. We found some lovely local pubs within a short drive. Would definitely recommend and will be returning in the future.
So pleased we stumbled across this site. The cabins are set away from the road and there is no noise at all other than nature. The Lodge was surprisingly large. Really well furnished and had a cottage feel. Had a secure garden for the dogs. Jacuzzi was lovely.
