NUISANCE BEGGAR IS BACK! It is November 25 2025 and about 10 or 11 weeks ago I tried to put feedback on regarding a nuisance beggar whom staff (for an obscure reason) seemed to welcome his presence. They’d talk to him, give him cigarettes and lights for his cigarettes. Oh, by the way, NO ONE should be smoking outside a doorway! Passive smokes KILLS! And I think you’ll find it’s probably illegal where smoke can work its way INTO a shop! Any way, my feedback didn’t get posted. So I have to “assume” that google contacted Home Bargains with my allegations and Home bargains agreed to remove the beggar. That’s my assumption. It has been bliss for the last 10 or 11 weeks. But as of 24 November 2025, he is BACK! For goodness sake, what is wrong with Home Bargains management? If “THEY” want him let “THEM” give him a percentage of “THEIR” wages. Don’t thrust him upon shoppers! I pointed out how that shopping centre was becoming a drugs haven as the drug addicts gather in the corner next to Dreams before shops open. Home Bargains (and others) were allowing this by encouraging begging. Help is there for “genuinely” homeless people. These people are drug addicts and people simply trying it on. I also pointed out that next door is salvation Army charity shop and that this beggar sits in the overhang of Home Bargains “hiding” from salvation Army. After all, if he WAS genuine, they would probably steer him to get some help. But, no, he intentionally keeps his distance so Salvation Army don’t see him by “hiding” in the overhang of Home Bargains doorway! Isn’t it typical, we are approaching a certain event in December and he is clearly trying to get EXTRA money for this! I suffer fragile mental health and have to keep myself away from stressful situations. Not easy when you have this provocative person. After all, what happens if I snap? I get arrested and prosecuted for being provoked. And I WILL sue if this happens. So as a safeguard, I now video everything as a safeguard and for evidence. Beggar aside. Home Bargains as a shop are going downhill. We have staff jabbering ALL the time into their headsets. It actually sounds to me as if they are carrying on mobile phone conversations through their headsets judging by some of the conversations I’ve overheard. So it makes me as a customer reticent about asking for help. So I go elsewhere rather than ask. This would explain why mistakes are often happening and why some shelf prices are missing. After all, staff are being distracted from doing their jobs. It’s become a joke. Things MUST improve otherwise customers WILL go elsewhere. 1) Remove this beggar PERMANENTLY 2) Stop staff from carrying on conversations on headsets whilst shelf-filling AND whilst “on” tills. Yes, I’ve even had a staff member talking on their headset whilst serving me. BAD customer service! By the way, don’t ever be tempted to write to them with complaints. They ALWAYS ignore them! Again, BAD customer service. Very sad place to shop now. I’ll be going elsewhere soon. Which is a pity as it has 8pm closing which is VERY convenient as I live nearby. But I’ll go elsewhere to OTHER bargain shops that have NO beggars and staff who don’t jabber away on headsets! When customers go elsewhere and you have to close it will be your own fault. Buck your ideas up!
I visited the Queens Road store recently which isn’t the branch of Home Bargains I would tend towards. My rating isn’t in relation to the store but about one particular member of staff who served me at the register on the day of my visit. Joshua P. was a warm and friendly young man who displayed customer service skills that deserve to be recognised. He was the only staff member to smile or greet me in any way during my visit. We are all too quick to complain and provide negative feedback, I hope this review will boost the confidence of this lovely member of staff.
Could not believe that some good red wine was £1 cheaper than the big supermarkets
very very rude staff who literally have no manners and need to learn come customer service skills. Had all the staff screaming in my face rolling their eyes and getting annoyed just because the store was about to close and I was picking my last item. I told one of the staff to be patient and learn how to speak to customers and she said if you cant pay its not my problem then.
What else can you say good products at a great price
