Moor Royd House

Description

Moor Royd House are self catering studio flats located off the Barnsley-Manchester Rd (A628) in Penistone. It is the last house, at the end of the lane off the main road, making it accessible but private. The buildings were originally farm buildings and about two acres of land were retained when the farm was sold. The surrounding fields remain in agricultural use.

It is possible to enjoy a holiday at Moor Royd House without a car and many visitors have done so. Some use it as a place to relax, others walk the many and various walks in the area. Arrangements can be made to meet visitors at Peninstone Railway Station. Travellers using the Trans pennine Trail can leave the track at Bullhouse Bridge which is half a mile from Moor Royd.

For those who come by car, Moor Royd is an ideal place for a holiday. Within easy driving distance are the glorious country areas of Derbyshire, North and West Yorkshire, as well as the much less well known-but equally beautiful-rural areas of South Yorkshire. For excursions one is spoiled for choice with Holmfirth (Last of the Summer Wine country), Barnsley, Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham, Wakefield, Huddersfield and Halifax within easy reach and all offering a wide variety of amusements, historical sites and other tourist attractions.

The North boundary of the Peak District National Park is one mile away, at Langsett. This part of the park has become more popular of recent years but is still delightfully uncrowded compared with the better known areas.
