My partner picked up a prescription of antibiotics for me as I have been bed bound for 3 days. There were two packages inside, both with different packaging and separate labels saying to take two four time a day. I took two of each as I'm in a daze and didn't think anything of it until after when I realised one says phenoxymethylpenicillin and the other phenoxymethylpenicillin potassium. I rang the pharmacy to see if this was the same medication and what I should do and if I should be worried about taking a double dose. The pharmacist said never in his years as he had this issue and that it was my fault - I wasn't even accusing anyone, I was asking for advice. I believe the boxes should have been taped up with just one label on them, this would have made it clear that it was a continuation of medication. I asked to speak to the manager because of how I was being spoken to and he said he was the manager but would not give me his name. I have reported this to the General Pharmaceutical Council because if this was dangerous medication it could have caused someone to overdose. The different packaging and separate labels were not clear and it made it incredibly unsafe. I was honestly just calling for advice and got basically shouted and made to feel like an idiot. The boxes were different, with two separate labels and I am incredibly poorly with an infection at the moment, because of how the medication was packaged this could easily have happened to someone else in a similar state. What I did not deserve was to be spoken to how I did when all I called for was advice. Edit in response to the pharmacy's response: My review is not highly inaccurate at all and I reflected the actual conversation that took place. I contacted the pharmacy after the mistake for advice and got berated by the manager (who is likely the one writing your response by the sounds of it). Awful pharmacy with absolutely horrendous customer service. Would not recommend it to anyone. Go to Pharmacy+Health down the road, it's much nicer and their procedures are safer
The accessibility is a joke. Sure, it has a ramp. But the first door is heavy as heck and hard to open when in a wheelchair - if they have a button to open it then it's well hidden. Then, because of the way the main door opens, it makes it almost impossible to manoeuvre and get through the second door when that is open. It was clearly designed by someone who isn't disabled. Absolutely absurd and glad it was a one off to pick up my prescription instead of delivery. I hope they fix the issues but I doubt it.
So they've made it so you can't speak to a human over the phone, you HAVE to tell the AI your problem ans wait for a call back. Thats great when you have an urgent issue, or maybe you are housebound and you can't walk down to the premises. This needs reporting to governing authorities, compeltele blatant disregard for patients. Response: very swiftly, you rang me to discuss my review soon after posting, what you failed to mention during that call was that you had removed me from the register and refused to provide the medication, which was already supposed have been given to me already. Both the new pharmacy and the GP surgery were shocked and appalled that you did that.
They have a new AI answering service that cannot take information correctly. The person whom called me back was very aggressive. The delivery service remains very good and the delivery driver is very efficient and polite. I will not be using the pharmacy again.
Great pharmacy always helpful but their new AI answering service on the phone is ridiculous I wanted to ask a simple question and now waiting for a phone call back... You can't simply be transferred to speak to a human being. Sowerby Bridge Pharmacy please rethink this you are going to lose alot of customer and anger alot of people.
