I can't even begin on how much I loved this place. Best Roast Beef Yorkshire pudding ever, best ambience, best staff. Was the second best meal I had while in UK on holidays for 6 weeks. Prices were very reasonable also.
Brilliant. Went for the Sunday Roast and was greeted with a warm welcome and a tasty feast. The gravy was rich and flavorful, Yorkshire pudding was enormous, and the sides and prime rib portions were generous and delicious. Service was top notch and the best I've experienced in all the UK, they treated me just as kindly as if I were a regular customer.
Lovely friendly service. Very busy local pub with loads of local craft beers on tap. We wanted the chicken & mushroom pie and it was sold out so we ordered the steak and ale pie instead. It was very tasty with the gravy, also very nicely cooked chips. I devoured the whole plate. I wish I had room for dessert as they have very delicious looking options to choose from.
I was looking for a cosy pub type environment for a meal with my daughters. We had walked past The Hole in the Wall a few times while visiting York. On the Thursday evening I suggested we call in. It was quite busy (which is always a good sign) but we managed to get a 4 seat table. The bar staff were very friendly and took our order. Our drinks were brought to us at our table 11. The young lady was very pleasant. The same young lady brought our food too. I was extremely surprised at the cost of 3 meals with 3 drinks, £69.75. I expected it to be more expensive. It was quite warm in the pub so aircon would have been very useful. However, a nice meal was had by all, and I would definitely visit again if in York.
I have been here on a few occasions and it has always been fantastic. The food is amazing, the staff are all so polite and very friendly and there is a great atmosphere. I was chatting to Alfie on the bar today who served us and he is such a nice guy, a credit to the place. I had the beef lasagne and my boyfriend has a sunday roast chicken dinner, all home cooked food......delicious. Thankyou so much for the lovely food, I highly recommend this to anyone. We will see you again soon.
