Fascinating history well represented within the walls of the house as well among the ruins. There is a preserved monk's cell among the ruins to give one a glimpse into their everyday lives. National Trust partners with English Heritage for the priory but National Trust members are asked to pay for the parking. There is a sufficient lot on the property. We visited in mid September and many of the flowers were still blooming as other had begun to change color. There are several floors open in the main building, and one is free to explore the monk's cell's upstairs as well although the climb is quite steep.

Wonderful place to spend a day. The ruins are impressive and the refurbished buildings well thought out. Plenty of history telling of the Carthusian Monks and how they lived and worked. The rebuilt Monk's cell and garden is lovingly reconstructed. The history also covers what happened to the place after the Reformation, and who had parts in that. The café is nice for a light lunch.

Fantastic day out.. we have a English Heritage membership so we were able to explore everywhere for free - 2 adults 3 children. The kids loved exploring the Abbey and the Monks house we took a picnic ( loads of areas to sit ).. lovely walk after around the gardens and lakes to see the swans. Fantastic customer service too, the staff were polite and welcoming .. we will be back in the summer.

Superbly renovated and well preserved buildings, giving an insight to this Carthusian priory and its history. Plenty to see as the grounds are huge, with gardens and open space for picnics. Inside the house there is plenty to explain the history and what everything was used for, giving a history of the different occupants, and how different parts were used. There is also a tea room serving a limited menu ..

Beautiful place, easy to reach from the hustle and bustle to peace and quiet. A fascinating history. The staff was very cooperative and helpful with regard to a broken leg and the use of the wheelchair, which is available on site.
