Second stay here and both times we have really enjoyed it. Very comfortable bedrooms, with lots of extras, and amazing breakfasts if you choose to have them. We also had dinner on the first night and the main meals were very good. There was a new member of staff working between reception and restaurant that was still learning so we were gentle with her mistakes, but did not take away from what is a lovely hotel to stay at for a couple of nights or an event I think. The hostess Lesley will do anything to make your stay comfortable and is very laid back too. The housekeeper too was terrific and checked everything every day. 3 nights of bliss. Whatever else you read, unless you want gold taps, and silver service, trust us and stay here. A scottish welcome with yorkshire charm!
Visited as a group of 4 in January 2025 for the weekend. We had Rooms 1 and 2. From the moment we walked in the door after a ridiculously long journey from the south coast, Lesley welcomed us and soon had us settled in. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for her and we had an amazing weekend at the hotel. The rooms were clean, warm and had complimentary toiletries, towels and hot drink facilities. Lesley went above and beyond to make our stay special. The breakfasts were amazing. I had continental and everyone else had the full cooked breakfast. The evening meals were delicious and the Burns Night was brilliant. We intend to return at the start of 2026 and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel. Thanks for a great weekend.
We loved it here! Mainly down to the manageress Lesley, who could not do enough for her guests. Rooms were nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. Large car park. Excellent value for money too. We had breakfasts and dinners there and it was all wonderful, especially the themed Burns Night on the Saturday. We will be back in a heartbeat.
Quite a strange venue. On arrival had letters missing off the venue name which gave signs it wasn't going to be as expected. Lovely views and lots of parking. Bar area was very bleak and was empty, showing a TV with poor sound made it unwelcoming to want to dine in. Check in was good and room was OK. Bed was terrible and springs had collapsed so to sit on was going straight to the base. Toilet was so tight I had both arms touching side and shower. Quite a distance to walk into town and no paths for most of it. Has potential but needs improving to want to stay again
It’s cheap and there’s plenty of parking. The whole place feels like the owners can’t be bothered. Beds were uncomfortable, the rooms poorly maintained with a toilet that was secured and wobbled like a bucking bronco. There’s no water pressure for the shower and the extractor fan made more noise than a jet engine on warm up.
