Our stay at Riverdale was nothing short of magical. We stayed in Poppy, one of the shepherd’s huts, and from the moment we arrived it felt like we’d stepped into our own private world. The hut was incredibly cosy and thoughtfully designed, yet surprisingly spacious, with everything you could possibly need — a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable living space, and all the little details that make it feel like a home rather than just a place to stay. The standout feature for us was the two baths on the decking. Soaking in them while surrounded by nature was absolutely amazing and felt like pure luxury. We also made full use of the sauna and cold plunge, which elevated the whole experience into something deeply restorative — the perfect balance of relaxation and rejuvenation. The surrounding area was beautiful, quiet, and calming, ideal for switching off completely. During our entire stay there, we didn’t see another person, which made it feel incredibly secluded and special (though I imagine this may differ in busier months). It genuinely felt like we were in our own magical realm, disconnected from the outside world in the best possible way. Riverdale has mastered the art of combining comfort, luxury, and nature. It was a peaceful, intimate stay that left us feeling refreshed and reconnected, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommended for couples looking for a calm, cosy, and unforgettable escape.
An idilic hideway nestled in beautiful Yorkshire countryside right next to the river Ure. We stayed here for two nights in one of the Safari tents. We had a great stay and definitely will be back. There were seven of us total and there was more enough space. There were two bunk beds a double room and another double on a raised mezzanine floor above a little nook. The beds were very comfortable and the beding that was provided soft and cosy. The tents come with plenty of plug sockets, wifi, a wood burner and fully fitted kitchen with utensils and crockery. The living area is spacious and outside area was vert well maintained with a large wood deck with outdoor seating and a large gas bbq there was also fire pit with light seating. The views were beautiful they are ideally placed right between the river Ure, meadows, woods and open fields. Having taken two dogs the dog shower was a very welcome addition with shampoo and brushes provided. We booked into the sauna and ice bath which was the real highlight for us. The setting was beautiful with stunning views of Ure and woods from inside. Outside there is two plunge baths and cosy seating around and campfire. Towels and hats all provided and 90 min is perfect as an hour always feels rushed.
Had another great few days in the Kingfisher lodge at Riverdale. Weather was perfect, so we spent a lot of time on the deck overlooking the river. Saw little Egrets, cranes, even a Kingfisher flying down the river! The lodge has everything you need for long or short stay. It was very clean and the beds are comfortable. Even though there are other lodges and Safari tents it's very quiet and tranquil. Some good walks from the site to the villages, with two dog friendly pubs, plus a great little corner shop! Location is ideal for days out, lots to see in the area, put we stayed local this time to relax . Will, who manages the site, is very welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble . Planning our next visit to recharge our batteries!
A stunning beautiful tranquil hidden gem 💎 100% dog friendly ❤️ I am in love with this place it is utterly amazing sustainable and you can see so many stars 🌟 from here. Its not overcrowded with lots of lodges here there are just 4 and 4 safari tents and 4 shepherd huts which all look onto the river its mystical and magical here. I already want to come back. Im blow away with the prettiness of the shepherd's huts by night 🌙 and the twinkle lights make it look so pretty coupled with the outside fire 🔥 pits but most of all the unique bath tub being 🛁 outside is a dream and all done so well with total privacy. Each shepherd's hut has its own path up to it because you can't drive up, so you get a wheel barrow to bring ya stuff up. The landscape is unreal. There is so much to do here from riverside walks leading to the little local village for a pub lunch to visiting Saltburn beach or the National Trust Fountain Abbey ⛲️ or why not have an on site exclusive sauna with a view to die for. This serene place has by far exceeded my thoughts of what it would be.. I'm blown away and if you support sustainability then you'll love it even more. Yoga 🧘♂️ groups ♥️ love it. For them its gong paradise where you can get in touch with Nature the visuals are heaven ✨️ and the location to be admired which hosts a stunning sunset 🌇 Each lodge has dog friendly balcony space with a secure gate so they still have their freedom even when your in the lodge. The safari tents are so cute with lots of space and log burners fitted kitchens n u really will be blown away of how cleverly constructed they are, they all have electricity hot water a shower, a toilet bunk beds for the kids and just the cutest garden family area again all come with an outside fire pit. You've really got to see it to believe it n you'll be blown away. I could write an essay on this place its not 100% nice its 1000% amazing here..
We had a fantastic stay at Riverdale Rural Holidays in the Clover Shepherd’s Hut. The hut is beautifully done—equipped with everything you need and full of thoughtful touches that made our stay extra comfortable. The river views were stunning, and the peaceful surroundings made for a truly relaxing break. Our dog loved the fully enclosed garden and the lovely walks around the estate. A real highlight was spotting a kingfisher flying over the river—magical! We also tried the sauna and absolutely loved it—everything is built to a high standard with great attention to detail. Will was a super host—very friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. Highly recommended for a peaceful countryside escape.
