This was a handy station to use as an interchange, which has appropriately sized platforms for both of my trains that include modernized station name signs! The bridge is really smooth on the stairs and has ease of access in all areas, linking to every platform. Signs help with navigation and there are also ones with railway information, such as how to save money on journeys. The station has a healthy number of platforms, where cleanliness was maintained and I comfortably waited in a shelter!

Rather basic facilities, no toilets but a nice feel to the station. If you’re a trainspotter I would 100% recommend visiting as there is lots of variety.

Mediocre at it's most average. No coffee shop and the wind level is too high. Recommend a jumper in July. Would come again.

I only visited the train station to see a passing steam train. I managed it just fine so all was good. I don't really know Church Fenton too well myself but from what I have seen of it all looks good. I did get some nice pictures of the Vulcan there back in the day. That was very exciting, so impressive.

One of the busiest stations in Britain outside the suburban areas must have been Church Fenton which lay at the junction of the York - Sheffield main line (S&K) and the York - Leeds main line, both of which ran parallel between Church Fenton and York giving the impression of a four-line section of track whereas in fact each pair was largely independent of the other. In addition, a number of trains travelled up from Newport (Middlesbrough) and by-passed York by being routed via Harrogate and Tadcaster, joining the main line at Church Fenton. The S&K also saw a good proportion of GN traffic which travelled from Doncaster to York via Church Fenton and thus avoided Selby. With a train every six minutes of the day, the section was almost certainly one of the busiest in the country. The table below shows an hour and a half's activity.
