What truly sets this place apart, is the reception staff. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm smiles and genuine friendliness. They’re not just professional—they’re personable, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to help with bookings, questions, or just a quick chat that brightens your day. It’s clear they care about the members and take pride in creating a positive experience. I am sure the other staff are also a credit to the club, but rarely have the opportunity to interact. While I know the staff have kindly asked to be named in reviews, I prefer not to mention anyone personally as I value online anonymity and privacy. Just know that your efforts are truly appreciated!

It seems, in reading the rush of recent reviews and some past reviews that club staff are under pressure to get positive reviews for the club. I am sympathetic to this cause, many of the staff are friendly are regularly seen to be doing their best - as such, 5 stars. The mark of a lasting business in customer service is one that will learn from its shortcomings and actively listen to, and act on feedback from customers AND staff. I understand that a business needs money to operate, and I understand that raising member prices is often done reluctantly and by necessity. As other reviewers have mentioned, some things that a set of your members value have been taken away, business decisions that are necessary for continued operation may need better communication with your longstanding members. Consider offering a newsletter or some other practice in relation to club direction and the snagging list. I visit to relax, remove the some of the weight of the world and improve myself. Recently, every time I visit there is something wrong. Many of the machines I was looking to use out of action, the steam room - out of action or overcrowded. I keep to myself, but the changing rooms and steam room / sauna constantly have longstanding members complaining to other members about deteriorating facilities, removal of features (or staff), increase in prices and looking favourably at competing locations who will beat on price. Hard to switch off when this conversation is rampant, and they aren't wrong, I stay out of it, but I see more and more people swing this way as time goes on. The pool is massively valued among customers and of course with such an asset the business is going to leverage it to try and make money where possible, but the penny pinching adds up. Staff are clearly doing their best with what they are given, but sometimes it feels like they are between a rock and a hard place. 5* remains for now, I do hope that while management make the decisions they need to, that they find some way to communicate that with their customers on the direction of the club. Radio silence and stretching things thin is going to go one way. Hopefully the new members these reviews are desperate to encourage will allow the club to reinvest for the benefit of all members..

Been going to this gym for over 20 years. Staff are, in the main, very helpful and friendly. Some of the gym equipment is tired and refurbishment of the changing rooms and showers are due. Cleaners do an excellent job of keeping the place clean. I’ve paid for personal training sessions to ensure what I’m doing is correct and would highly recommend Dan and Ryan. Overall a feel good gym and it’s real life testimony is that I’ve stayed here for over 20 years.

I have been a member here now for 22 years now. Since Nuffield acquired this gym the services have become more stretched with the focus moving from members to children’s swimming lessons, baby groups etc. This limits the time’s available for members to swim. Focus areas: -CV equipment breaking down more frequently and taking a long time to repair (weeks sometimes months) - WATT bikes are continually broken with maybe 1/2 out of 4 being fully usable. - lifeguards are mostly just counting down the minutes and hours and do very little to police the lane speeds. - weights area can feel very busy and cramped a lot of the time - member benefits are scarce in comparison to the Greens era where you felt valued as a member, now you’re just a direct debit with very little effort made to retain long standing members - the warm spa pools were a great feature which is gone now and with it a number of members - the cafe offers minimal menu options with overpriced sandwiches being the replacement and expensive coffee - staff seem to give lip service to issues with little changes apart from the non-negotiable annual price increases. - don't fall foul of the ANPR parking camera either as that is another money spinner for them! However, the gym is very clean throughout and is in a great location.
