The Sportsman's Arms

Came here for an evening meal. Ate in the restaurant, but the cosy bar would have been fine too. Fantastic food and great service. Classic meals done to a high standard, very tasty and portions a decent size. Nice range of beers, wines, whisky and other drinks. Would be tempted to stay overnight in the hotel in future.

This is a very special and secluded place. Really comfortable rooms, and the food is high end, but reasonably priced. What made this place memorable was Sara and the team. Everyone we encountered were professional, courteous and really happy to be there. We will be back.

We stopped for one night at this hotel set in a beautiful area. The room was comfortable if not over large. There's a lovely bar and sitting area to enjoy a drink and relax. There are not any easy alternatives to eating at the pub if you want an evening meal and not drive. We therefore took the pubs offer of eating with them. Food is definitely on the pricey side. It was beautifully cooked and delicious but small portions designed to make you spend the max on all the courses. We chose the venison as a main, again delicious, but all that actually comes with that main is a tiny bit of parsnip puree, one small stem of broccoli and gravy. To make it into a main course, you have to order sides of new potatoes or chips at additional costs. Breakfast was again cooked nicely but there was no choice other than full English. Also, we were told 8.30 was the earliest we could have breakfast, yet on arrival, others were already completing their breakfasts. Perhaps not everyone already paying a considerable amount to stay wants to double their costs with a 'fine dining' experience.

Adore the Sportsman's Arms and have been coming for 20+ years. Perfect ambience and atmosphere, with the friendliest of staff, excellent food and tastefully decorated rooms. My favourite place

This is a stunning hotel/ pub/ restaurant set in the most idyllic countryside. We have visited many times over the years and we have never been disappointed with either the food, the service, or the general ambience. Today was no exception. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and a drink. This was all enhanced today by the weather, simply stunning. I have never stayed at the hotel, so I can not rate the rooms, but I'm sure they will be a similar standard to the rest of the establishment. There is also plenty of outdoor seating for days, such as today to enjoy the stunning countryside views.
