Avoid this place as it is a disgrace. After waiting ages at the counter for some non prescription tablets i eventually had to ask if anyone was serving. I could see one of the staff chatting away while looking at pictures on her phone. when she finally came out she said i would have to wait in the prescriptions queue and then walked off. Just an ignorant old woman who from her behaviour actually seemed drunk . I went to the pharmacy in Tadcaster on my way home and was served straight away by pleasant staff.
Booked appointment and paid for Meningitis B vaccine for my daughter days in advance of the appointment. Arrived at the pharmacy to be told no vaccine was available. Over 1 hour round trip for both of us. I'm currently hoping that the refund for the money already paid for the vaccine via the Boots website (over £100) arrives in my bank account. Common courtesy would suggest that there should have been a phone call to cancel the appointment if there were supply issues with the vaccine and Boots were unable to fulfil the service that had been advertised and paid for.
I waited in a queue for 5-10 minutes to collect my prescription at around 3.30pm. The person who served was very apologetic about my wait. She said that my prescription needed to be given out by a pharmacist. I said that this was "fine". She elaborated that my prescription may or may not be ready by 4.30pm because the “pharmacist was in a meeting”. I took this to mean that it could be some time before I could pick up my medicine, so I left the pharmacy and returned later (at roughly 4.40pm). The person who initially served me had taken my mobile telephone number, and had said that she would text me when my prescription was ready. I did not receive said text. She had also advised me to stand by another counter next door to collect my medicine when I came back. So when I returned to the pharmacy (at about 4.40pm), this is what I did. By the way, there was a queue of four of five people waiting for the counter I had used at 3.30pm. I was served (this time almost immediately) by another person. Presumably this was “the pharmacist”, because she gave me my prescription straight away. This was after I had explained to her that I was at the pharmacy earlier to collect my medicine. I said that it didn’t appear to have been ready at the time. The pharmacist (?) replied - in an abrupt fashion - “It was ready, you weren’t here when we called it out.” It felt as though the pharmacist (?) was blaming me for the situation. Presumably this Boots is understaffed. I would urge anyone who is considering collecting their prescription from this Boots to avoid it.
Quite possibly the worst Boots store ever visited. No self service tills and one served till who disappears for minutes at a time to dig out click and collect orders.
The pharmacy counter is almost always understaffed causing long queues. Further, they often make you wait when you are at the front of the queue to do background activities making up other prescriptions. Very often you'll find your prescription is not ready, so the queue gets longer while they are "firefighting" trying to get prescriptions made up there and then, or sending people away to come back half and hour later or in the afternoon. They repeatedly don't meet the required timescale for dispensing prescriptions, meaning that customers turn up there not having received a text message, but have run out of their medications. The few staff who are there clearly try their best, but, that does not excuse the company / branch management from allowing the poor levels of service to continue.
