The Marine Bar & Restaurant

From the moment we arrived at The Marine Bar and Restaurant, we knew we were in for something truly special. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Whitby harbourside, the views alone are enough to make you pause and take it all in. But it is the experience inside that truly shines. The interior is stylish and classy, with a refined yet relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at ease. The staff were absolutely superb, welcoming, friendly and wonderfully attentive. The service was faultless throughout, and every detail felt carefully considered. The food was nothing short of exceptional. To start, my wife chose the Crab Bon Bons with roasted garlic and lemon mayonnaise, delicate, flavourful and beautifully presented. I had the Gravlax with horseradish crème fraîche and beetroot coulis, which was fresh, vibrant and perfectly balanced. For our mains, my wife’s Seafood Linguine was a standout dish. It featured half lobster, clams, crevettes, scallops and mussels in a fragrant white wine, chilli and garlic sauce. It was rich, indulgent and bursting with flavour. I opted for the Smoked Haddock and Gruyère Fishcake, served with a poached egg, chive and hollandaise sauce. It was comforting, elegant and cooked to perfection. We both finished with the Crème Brûlée, which had a crisp caramelised top and a silky smooth custard beneath. It was the ideal end to a flawless meal. In short, The Marine delivers on every front: location, atmosphere, service and cuisine. It is a place that makes you feel truly looked after, and we would absolutely return. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience by the sea.

I wanted to eat seafood during my holidays in Whitby and chose the Marine Bar & Restaurant for a very early dinner. There were not many other guests yet so it was nice and quiet. The food was absolutely delicious! On top of that our table had a lovely harbour view.

First visit to the marine bar & restaurant and I would definitely return. Service was great despite potentially being understaffed with waiting staff, everyone was working really hard to ensure we had a great experience. The Food was fantastic, having had calamari in so many nice restaurants in multiple countries, this was the best both of us have ever had, scallops melted in your mouth. Mains were great too and I enjoyed my chocolate decadence dessert. Thoroughly recommend eating here when visiting Whitby

Really lovely food and the service was really friendly. We got the sharing seafood platter. Food was all fresh and tasted amazing! The table was a bit too small which made it awkward to eat and found the lighting was a bit too bright and some lights were flickering. But overall a really lovely restaurant
