First time visit for Christmas lunch and will definitely be back. The staff was new so the service was a bit slow but Richmond made it all seem to work out, he is a true gem and we told him and his manager when we left, he's the atmosphere of the place so thank you Richmond. The food was really good, we had the 3 courses Christmas menu and everything was tasty and well presented, ended with mint tea on Richmond's recommendation and it was a great ending to a wonderful meal, looking forward to our next visit! The restaurant itself is beautiful and the restrooms are very clean.
The staff is super polite and welcoming, food was incredible too. They have quite a versatile menu including gluten free and vegan options. Lastly, the ambience is beautiful 🤌🏽
We visited The Marrakech last night. I chose the restaurant to celebrate my partners Birthday. I expected Morrocan music & vibe but as it was Christmas it was Christmas music. We initially ordered lamb shank & chicken tagine with saffron rice. Unfortunately, the tagine was not great, very salty, mushy, the chicken was not good. The saffron rice was a disappointment. Having lived in the middle east, including several trips to Marrakech & my love of cooking/eating middle eastern food, I have to say it was not the best. However, the assistant manager Richmond was wonderful. He was very responsive to my disappointment and asked would I like to choose another dish. I choose chicken Shish with saffron rice. This was tasty and the rice was so much better. Richmond was professional with such a caring attitude and excellent customer services. He made our evening special with his caring thoughtful attitude. He took on board my suggestions and hopefully, this relatively new restaurant will improve. Especially with Richmond on board!
The atmosphere, decorations, and staff attitude were great. Walked in an got seated even though it was quite busy. The food itself was OK, on the bland side but still had the garlic and tumeric taste. Rice was a little bland. The tough part about this experience was the food wait time and the feedback around it. I waited over an hour for food, the explanation being grilled meat takes a long time, but one hour is by far the longest I’ve ever had to wait for any grilled food. On top of that twice staff said they would check and update but did not come back to give any information, seems like they may have forgot. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s really anyone’s fault, the staff seemed a little rushed and if the kitchen does take that long to put food out then so be it. Personally I thought for the wait it was, the food wasn’t up to my personal expectations. Edit: I appreciate the reply because that means you look at reviews. I’m very appreciative that we were able to be seated during such busy time, and we waited for around one hour for food to be served. I don’t appreciate the accusations being made here, but again I respect the reply. My experience wasn’t ideal and hence my review, I’m sure many have had a great experience here, cheers.
I went to Marrakesh in York for an early evening meal with work colleagues. The restaurant wasn’t busy, and we were attended to promptly. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and how the dishes were prepared, which added to the experience. Drinks were served quickly, followed by our food order. For starters, we shared the mezze platters, both vegetarian and meat versions, served with bread and a good mix of sauces. For my main, I chose the lamb kofta with rice. The flavours were pleasant, with the kofta having the slightly drier texture different from the Indian or Turkish versions I’ve tried before, but enjoyable in its own way. Overall, it was a good, pleasant evening.
