SEMH Teaching Assistant
<p><strong>Job Title:</strong> SEMH & SEN Support<br /><strong>Location:</strong> York and Surrounding Areas<br /><strong>Salary:</strong> £90 - £110 per day (depending on experience and responsibilities)</p> <p>Are you passionate about supporting children with <strong>SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)</strong> needs and <strong>Special Educational Needs (SEN)</strong>? Do you enjoy working flexibly while making a real impact in the classroom?</p> <p>We're looking for caring, committed and adaptable <strong>SEMH/SEN Support Staff</strong> to work across a range of welcoming <strong>primary schools in York</strong>. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a <strong>supply basis</strong>, with a mix of <strong>day-to-day</strong>, <strong> short-term</strong> and <strong>longer-term</strong> placements available - tailored to your availability and preferences.</p> <p><strong>What You'll Be Doing:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and/or broader SEN needs</li><li>Supporting behaviour, emotional regulation, communication and access to learning</li><li>Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to deliver tailored support</li><li>Encouraging positive relationships, confidence and independence in pupils</li></ul> <p><strong>What We're Looking For:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience supporting children with SEMH and/or SEN, ideally within a school or care setting</li><li>A patient, empathetic and proactive approach to behaviour and emotional support</li><li>Ability to adapt and respond to the needs of different pupils and settings</li><li>A relevant qualification (e.g. Teaching Assistant Level 2/3, Team Teach, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential</li></ul> <p><strong>What We Offer:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Competitive daily pay, paid weekly</li><li>Full flexibility - work when and where suits you</li><li>A variety of placements - from ad hoc to ongoing roles</li><li>A supportive team who value your skills and help you find the right fit</li><li>Opportunities for professional development and career progression</li></ul>
