York Food Week

York’s Food Scene Is Thriving

Whether you’re after a cosy brunch, an elegant dinner, or a cheeky dessert stop, this year’s event has more choices than ever. Chris Bush, Business Manager at York BID, which organises the event, is thrilled with the response so far:

“The initial demand for York Restaurant Week has been amazing. The enthusiasm from both diners and businesses underscores the significance of this initiative in supporting the city’s hospitality sector. We encourage everyone to take advantage of the outstanding offers available over the next two weeks.”

The event isn’t just about discounts—it’s about bringing people together and boosting local businesses. Restaurants see a surge in footfall, and for many, the benefits last well beyond the two-week event.

What’s on the Menu?

From independent cafés to fine dining favourites, there’s plenty to explore. Some highlights include:

  • Budget-friendly bites – Find deals for just £5 at some of York’s cosiest cafés and street food spots.
  • Mid-range meals – Enjoy two- or three-course menus at incredible prices, perfect for a casual lunch or dinner out.
  • High-end experiences – Fine dining without the hefty bill, with some of the city’s top restaurants offering menus up to £30.

And it’s not just about food—many bars are getting involved too, with great cocktail and drinks offers.

Local Restaurants Are Loving It

For participating businesses, York Restaurant Week is a chance to attract new customers and showcase what makes them special. Hamza Waseem, Co-owner of Heavenly Desserts on Blake Street, shared his excitement:

“York Restaurant Week is a fantastic opportunity for us at Heavenly Desserts York to showcase our artisan desserts to a wider audience. While offering exclusive discounts, we see a significant surge in footfall and revenue during the event, as well as a lasting impact on trade beyond the week itself. It’s a great way to engage with both locals and visitors, and we’re proud to be part of an initiative that supports the city’s vibrant food scene.”
