Receptionists are rude and not helpful. Waited over an hour to be seen by a doctor. All they have to do is say there is a delay and most people would be understanding they do not have to give details but just show common courtesy. They also talk about patients at the reception desk and everyone can hear in the waiting room. The screens are not bloody sound proof. One of the blonde ones was really rude to a gentleman and his mother who was struggling to walk and he did not once raise his voice or anything. He got told to go there and then they turn him round to go somewhere else with his struggling mother. If you want an appointment you are lucky to be seen in 3 months time.

I'm so exhausted from dealing with this GP surgery. I submitted an appointment request form and detailed how my asthma was being triggered by my hayfever, and that I needed some new inhalers because mine are out of date. The Doctor who saw me at my appointment was a trainee, which is fine, except that she didn't feel able to prescribe the right thing for me (bare in mind, all I wanted was the same inhalers as I already had), and said that she needed to confer with her tutor and she would get a prescription sent to my pharmacy to me within a couple of days. Well a couple of days go by and I get a text from the surgery saying that I need to have an appointment with the asthma nurses before I can have a prescription, and that appointment has been scheduled for four weeks' time. So I've been left with out-of-date medication by a doctor who - despite knowing what my appointment was for because I'd written every detail in the form - wasn't able to prescribe something very simple. Also, I put on EVERY SINGLE FORM that I can't take calls or attend appointments before 4pm, yet every time they schedule an appointment for me, that is ignored. There's no way to contact them about an existing appointment other than phoning them as the messages they send can't be replied to, so every single time I end up having to sit on hold for 20 minutes to change the appointment time. I called this time and explained that I needed a prescription and that I needed to change the time of the appointment, the phone operator spoke to a GP who said he would do me a prescription to tide me over until my appointment in four weeks. Great. Except that he has only written me a prescription for one of the two inhalers that I need, and the appointment time still hasn't been changed. So now I'm going to have to spend more time on hold to ask YET AGAIN for a prescription for a medication that I've been using for several years and to change the appointment time. If the trainee GP isn't able to prescribe then why is she seeing patients alone and wasting patients time? Why am I asked to fill in a lengthy form about my medical problem if it's clearly not being read? Why am I unable to reply to the messages from the surgery and forced to phone them (and waste even more time)? When I'm having phone conversations why aren't all the issues being fixed? The communication from this surgery is absolutely appalling. I'm having trouble breathing every day and yet they don't seem to be able to grasp that it's important that my potentially life-saving inhalers are actually in-date. Sort yourselves out.

Husband took me in the car for an interview, he drove off to tescos to buy bread to then come back to pick me up. We have received a parking fine for coming into the area twice. We were less then 24 minutes in total. Disgusting behaviour from a parking company, people beware! It's not the surgery's fault as such but if I was told sooner I would of informed my husband not to enter the carpark .

Been a patient at YMG since it 1st opened many, many years ago. Pre Covid, the reception staff were lovely. Booking an appointment a very simple task not at all stressful. Since Covid? Need an appointment? Forget it! You need a degree in IT to understand the online booking form. Try to phone for assistance after explaining the online process is too complicated to understand, get told "You need to fill out the online form". So then try going in, in person only to be shown a device for you to fill in the same form you STILL don't understand. Add to that the fact you can't stand for any length of time and there isn't a chair so you can sit on. Got told "any problems, come back to the desk". That's great, sadly there was no staff behind the desk and when a member of staff saw me waiting did a swift u-turn and disappeared! Eventually, a member of staff did 'assist' (after I shouted for assistance!) Only to discover the device had kicked me off the system and I was back to the beginning (aaarrrrggghhhhh!!!!!!). Needless to say I abandoned any further attempt to get an appointment. Also, forget continuity of care, I always saw the same GP which was great because of anxiety (other reasons too). Now? Not a chance. Consequently, I spend my appointment (I refer to above, assuming I actually get an appointment) going over my PMH instead of the immediate problem. Going into the surgery is akin to going onto the Marie Celeste, the waiting room is deserted as is the reception. Why? Because no one actually gets to see a GP, appointments are conducted by phone!!!! . 😡

I had an appointment to look at a burn on my arm by a nurse that previously treated it. In that time I got accepted for a new surgery. York medical group cancelled my appointment with no update to me but still sent me the text telling me to attend. I booked half a day off work for no reason and had to dress the wound myself. They say some help is better than none but not in this case. When I asked the receptionist why I didn’t get updated, the only response I got was , ‘we won’t notify you ‘
