I can’t thank the team at Halfords Foss Islands enough. While driving, my gear cables suddenly snapped — something I’d never experienced before. I had to pull over with my hazards on, but I was still partly blocking traffic. I was really distressed and had no idea what was happening. By pure luck, I was only about 100 feet from Halfords, so I ran over and asked if anyone could help. Two incredibly kind mechanics came out straight away, took a look, and quickly diagnosed the problem. They even drove my car safely back to the garage for me. It honestly felt like divine timing — not only that they had a moment to help, but that the breakdown happened so close to them! The manager was lovely, and by another stroke of luck they were able to fix my car the very same day. Every single person I dealt with — from the two mechanics to the manager to the staff member who went through the details with me when I picked up my car — was professional, friendly, and genuinely caring. Their kindness, quick action, and professionalism turned what could have been a really stressful and dangerous situation into something manageable. They’re an absolute credit to Halfords, and I can’t thank them enough. I’d have bought them all a pint if I could!
Hello, I just wanted to make the managers at the Foss Island Halfords in York know that their employees Harvey and Lara both gave exceptional customer service when I was there on 19th September and again today. I came in with a broken bike chain and after their assessment I decided to purchase a new bike. They were extremely helpful in getting my chain fixed so that I had a functional bike to take home while I waited for my new bike. Cycling is my main form of transportation and I don't know what I would have done without their help. I wasn't expecting the chain to be fixed the same day and they fit it in within a couple hours. They were also really helpful in choosing an appropriate bike similar to my old one. This saved me loads of time. Thank you for having such knowledgeable staff and I hope they get the recognition they deserve. Please do pass this feedback on. Only negative feedback is I would have loved a way to just email this to Halfords customer service because I don't really feel comfortable doing Google reviews. It was almost impossible to find a way to send feedback to your company. Getting through on the phone to ask questions before I went to the store in person was also next to impossible and a waste of my time, however the in person support from excellent employees made up for this.
Welcoming staff. 4 Goodyear 225/60 R18 Vector 4 Season G3 tyres fitted for a great price.Online appointment booking was straightforward and early arrival no issue. Prior to the appointment I phoned the Auto Centre direct. A really helpful lady answered all my questions making me feel valued and that I had made the right tyre choice. Booking in and picking up was with a down to earth guy . Having driven back from York covering dual carriageway and urban roads in wet conditions I am very happy with the tyres grip and noise level. These are my first all season tyres so looking forward to seeing how they compare in the winter against previous tyres.
Ok prices Helpful staff Don't know how to fit a dacia logan headlamp bulb properly. Reply. Well if you bothered to give a link that wasn't generic I might bother to reply, but I'm not wasting even more of my time navigating your website to contact you. I can tell you exactly what went wrong. During fitting your operative has dislodged the adjustment cable so one of the headlamps drops to its lowest position. This is not the first time I've had exactly this mistake made during fitting bulbs. Clearly Halfords doesn't train it's staff (at all?). It's a general Halfords problem because I've had this at two Halfords 500 miles apart (Elgin and York)
Greg at Halfords Foss Island was just what customer service should be all about….brilliant, honest, explained everything in basic terms (I am no car expert), advised what may be needed without the big sell. Helpful, honest and down to earth, knowledgeable without being condescending…in essence….everyone should have a ‘Greg’…highly recommend Greg and the team at Halfords Foss Island.
