Visited the showroom just outside York because they have a test track so you can try before you buy - brilliant. Chose and bought on the spot, delivered a couple of weeks later (despite a small hiccup by the delivery company, not Jorvik's fault). Having rode a bicycle for all of my life I've got to say it's taking me a bit of time to get used to having three wheels instead of two, I'm not alone, as the very helpful staff at the showroom told me as much. I'm finding cornering, particularly turning right a bit weird. I'm leaning, which you don't need to do, and over-compensating, which results in a much tighter turn than is needed. I'm really noticing even the slightest camber on the road and feel I need to steer to the right to balance things up. And of course, putting my feet down at junctions, which you don't need to do. I'm certain I will conquer these quirks eventually. Despite the above I absolutely love the trike. I think like many I'm of an age where I'm not ready for a mobility scooter but want more stability than a bicycle, and the Jorvik trikes are the perfect solution. I've been out on the road and on the promenade here in Mablethorpe and have received several admiring glances - and people like the trike too!
A quick-ish review to acknowledge first contact experience with Jorvik of York Ltd. I'd been in search of something strong and reliable, able to accommodate me over on and off-road adventures. A powered trike seemed the most viable obvious solution around my disabilities. I called their York location and received an immediate warm welcome from Sam (tech), he not only answered an hour long barrage of targeted questions with confidence, giving honest straight forward answers. Both being technically minded, we ended up bouncing numerous ideas off each other. It was overall a very productive and helpful conversation. Ultimately interested in their brand new addition to their range of tricycles, the Freedom Mobility Tricycle. Admittedly they're currently inundated with orders, promising a delivery around March 2026 (or earlier). I can wait, I've broken my way through half a dozen Chinese scooters. Now willing to put some faith into British engineering for a change. I've used due diligence, read a tsunami of reviews across numerous platforms, paid particular attention to the details in their high resolution multi-angle photos provided on their informative product overview. I agree with another reviewer their videos desperately need an overhaul, but I digress, I will be visiting (nay camping out) at their test track in York to prove a Jorvik mobility tricycle is the right choice for me. And let's face it, everyone has different needs, but we should all demand excellence at economy car prices, not just from the product itself, but from the quality of customer support offered after purchase in the event of issue/s. I guess (like others) I'll just have to wait in anticipation of my (as yet undefined) delivery date! 👍 The proverbial ball is definitely in Jorvik's court now! Watch this space! 😏
Highly recommend Jorvik Tricycles of York! Have purchased mine in instalments over 6 month period. No previous experience in riding a bike. Was able to get going straight away. What a joy! Received detailed help every step of the way. Guys - you are great. Thumbs up from me. Thank you very much.
You know when something good has hit the market when everybody from School kids to Septuagenarians turns their heads to look at something. Jorvik Tricycles have found that gap in the market and are now selling Trikes like hot cakes. For those with limited mobility or compromised sense of balance (a common symptom of Parkinson's, which I suffer from) the switch from two wheels to three, which is a lot safer, takes a bit of getting used to but you soon get the hang of it. The trick is not to lean - trikes need to be steered round corners not leant into. Road camber can be a challenge at first because it can lead you into the gutter, kerb or ditch at the side of the road, but don't oversteer and keep your speed down and you'll be fine. We live near Cambridge but were in York for a short break and used the opportunity to go and see these wondrous machines in the flesh - there is no substitute for a test ride and you would be ill advised to buy one without doing so. The HQ of Jorvik Cycles is just outside York where there is an indoor circuit that you can ride on any model in their extensive range. The staff are very friendly and very helpful and give confidence that this is a quality product where no design stone has been left unturned. I purchased the JMT 16 Elite E Model which is electric assisted, 7 speeds, 3 modes, reverse gear, colour display ,front and rear disc brakes (all 3 wheels), left & right LED flashing indicators and brake light at the rear and powerful LED headlight at the front all finished in British Racing Green, so it looks smart and so far it's been fantastic. You just have to remember your rear is wider than your front and ride out suitably far so that the traffic treats you like another vehicle, not like a bike. It comes 95% assembled but don't be deceived into thinking the final 5% is easy - it took us the best part of three hours to put it together, complicated by the fact it is collapsible which adds to the number of levers and bolts. There is always technical help available during working hours and I would like to thank Matt and Emma in particular for being so helpful and patient with us when we h ad so many, probably trivial, questions. I've already ridden 12 miles in just two days on it and the battery is holding up well having only lost 25% of its charge. It will need conditioning like an EV battery to get the most out of it. The next challenge will be to collapse it and put it in the car for a ride somewhere more distant like Thetford Forest or Graffham Water - they claim it fits in most estates and shooting brakes, hatchbacks or SUV's so we'll see. All in all an excellent product, excellent value (all the better with a VAT exemption if its a purchase required by someone with limited mobility) & excellent management and staff. I wish them well with the expansion of their business - they deserve to succeed!
We picked my mums bike up today. We first visited about a month ago we were shown a couple of bikes everything was explained the bikes were demonstrated to mum and she was made to feel so comfortable it gave her the confidence to have a go herself. There was absolutely no pressure and she came away to think about it and put her order in the next week. She has been so looking forward to collection day. I can not thank the staff enough the service and knowledge was first class it was an absolute pleasure to meet and speak to everyone nothing was too much trouble. There will be no stopping her now
