Corking Wines

Friendly enough staff, the ladies that is. Guy who I think is the owner isn't particularly. Since the other corner shop closed this place seems to have upped prices to the max. OK, it's convenient as there isn't a shop for at least a mile but I am dismayed by the price every time I need to grab something from there. Hate to say but I wish a Sainsbury/Tesco local would open round Leeman Rd.

Best corner shop in the Leeman Road - Water End island. Sells fresh cooked bread, pastries and cakes in addition to sandwiches and hot pies. Usual compliment of corner shop fare and newsagent stuff, lottery, pay point and pick and mix! Half the store is dedicated to alcohol and has a decent selection of wines and spirits and some craft ales also. Cash machine charges £1.80 but you can top up your phone for free. Great little shop, long may it continue Update: I'm guessing the owner has changed the address of the business to their new premises in Stamford Bridge because I definitely didn't review that. The name is the same but the business is fundamentally different but they get to keep the 5* rating.

Last night I went in to buy a couple of food items plus a lottery ticket for around ��4.50. I wanted to pay with a debit card but was told the lottery ticket was cash only. I cancelled the lottery ticket and offered to pay cash for the food by withdrawing money from their cash machine , but was told they did not accept cash as payment for groceries. I was therefore forced to spend £5 on groceries to use my debit card. So cash is fine for the lottery but not for food. I was too tired to think of going next door to the grocery store next door.

My local corner shop.. friendly owners and staff. There is a cash machine, lottery, good wine and ale selection. Fresh bread, etc and some more slightly unusual things that corner shops often don't stock.. soya milk, decaf teabags and premade sandwiches... Open until 10pm.

Lovely selection for a small shop; fresh baked items and fresh tasty sandwiches. Reasonable price and lovely staff. You can get some really nice things in here.
