Initially left a review on drawing board but apparently it’s the bouncers from this place that were working. The bouncers are horrible and aggressive. They dragged my friend out the toilet for no reason claiming he was assaulting people when all he was doing was using the toilet. They threw punches at him when he tried to ask why he got kicked out. They’re horrible, insulting and violent and this situation was bordering a police matter. Many reviews on drawing board say the same situation happened almost verbatim. This matter should seriously be looked into by the establishment

At the start the music was good and I was having a fun night with my friends- BUT then a man kept harassing me and my group. There are no bouncers stationed to watch the room, so I alerted the guy on the door who told me he'd let them know and they'd look out for them. Then about 30 minutes later when the man had still been stalking around the room- one of the came up to me and assaulted me (kept grabbing my arm tightly, backing me against the wall etc) and my other female friend had to get involved in order to shove him off- despite me clearly stating no and telling him to go away(in less polite words). When we alerted the bouncers he then negotiated with the man rather than immediately kicking him out, wanting to get both side of the story rather than helping. Whilst this was happening the man kept trying to get to me and grab me with the bouncer doing nothing and letting he man go. We decided to leave at this point, and found out by staff that the man had previously been kicked out of the bar below for doing the same thing to another group of women. The bouncers still kept the man on site so when walking down the stairs he tried to grab me again, and then he confronted my friend when we tried to leave downstairs. This response from the team at blue box was entirely underwhelming, if not discusting, we had to essentially fend for ourselves against older creepy men even after alerting bouncers and staff multiple times, leading to me being assaulted. Do better.

Emo bouncer accused me of spiking when I stopped my mate getting hit on by weird old emo men but then didn’t kick me out the building??? Like surely if you thought someone was spiking people you’d fully kick them out not just make them sit outside what was basically the girls toilets??? Make it make sense. Just gonna have to assume the emo bouncer was in leagues with the weird men unfortunately

Fantastic space, soundsystem and people 🫶🏼 check what’s on before going. Look out for nights from promoters such as chameleon, radiate, based events, city vibe, indigo, need4speed and many more. Plays host to almost all the underground/alt electronic music york has to offer.
