The Stiddy - Originally named 'The Red Lion' started its life in the early 1800's as a coaching house for many a weary travveler, though recently refurbished the pub still holds many of its original charms, - high wood beamed ceilings, traditional old style sash windows & still servers a selection of cask ales (aswell as the ever popular commercial drinks).

Just a short walk from the Stiddy a visitor to the area can enjoy the charms of St. Oswalds church, with medieval & Anglo Saxon connections, originally a Norman church this was later modified throughout the centuries using original stonework. Legend also reports a viking burial site nearby, though yet to be discovered.

Should medieval churches and vikings not be your scene a short drive either side of the village will lead to beautiful picture postcard locations, To the south of the Stiddy - a short drive down Lythe Bank (a steep 1 in 4 incline) you will be immediately greeted by Sandsend & the stunning Jurassic North Yorkshire coastline, should you decide to venture north out of the village of lythe you will meet the rolling hills of the North Yorkshire Moors, an ideal and popular walking and cycling area.
