|In an exciting development for the Humber region, global offshore wind developer Ørsted has officially joined the Humber Energy Board (HEB). This powerful consortium now includes 17 leading energy businesses, all working together to secure important investments and support for sustainable energy projects. Ørsted's involvement is expected to strengthen the board's efforts in driving economic growth and supporting the local community.
Ørsted's Commitment to Clean Energy
Ørsted is well-known for its commitment to renewable energy, having invested over £18 billion in the UK's clean energy sector. This includes nearly £10 billion specifically in the Humber area, where the company operates many of its offshore wind farms. The East Coast Hub, located in Grimsby, serves as a central point for Ørsted's operations in the North Sea, including the Hornsea One, Two, and Three wind farms. Hornsea Three is currently under construction and, once completed, it is expected to generate around 10 percent of the UK's electricity.
