|The Wold Top Big Sky Beer Festival has become a much-loved event in the Yorkshire Wolds, and excitement is already building for its tenth edition, scheduled for 9th and 10th July 2027. Following the success of this year’s festival, which saw 300 visitors enjoying a fantastic mix of beer, music, and food, plans for next year are already underway.
Festival Highlights
This year’s festival was a real treat for attendees, featuring a selection of 24 different beers and ciders, including special guest brews from Selby’s Jolly Sailor Brewery. Visitors also had the chance to enjoy delicious food from local vendors such as:

Espresso Van Gogh
Scarborough Creperie
Trotters Farm Shop (offering breakfast, barbecue, and roast options)
Live music added to the vibrant atmosphere, with performances from local artists like Rachel Mckenna, Matthew Stephens, The Midnight Special, Gerald Pickford, Dani and James, and Mix Tape. Sam Smith, a key member of the Wold Top Brewery team, expressed her delight at the festival's success, saying, “This year’s Big Sky Beer Festival was a real success. Not only was it a celebration of great beer, but people enjoyed the whole experience – the live music, the food, our top of the Wolds setting and the camping. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!”
Setting and Significance
The festival takes its name from the phrase “the big sky,” famously used by artist David Hockney to describe the expansive skies over the Yorkshire Wolds, which he compared to those he saw in the American West. This artistic connection reflects the stunning views that festival-goers can enjoy from the brewery’s location, perched at the top of the Wolds.
Ticket Information
Those eager to attend the 2027 festival can purchase early bird tickets until 31st October. The prices are as follows:
£17 for Friday, 9th July
£20 for Saturday, 10th July
£32 for a weekend pass
Camping options will also be available, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the festival experience.
Wold Top Brewery Background
Wold Top Brewery, founded in 2003, began as a family-run operation when the Mellor family decided to branch out from traditional farming to brewing. They utilise their own malting barley and fresh water sourced directly from their farm. Over the years, the brewery has gained recognition for its range of award-winning beers, available across Yorkshire and beyond.
Upcoming Events
In addition to the Big Sky Beer Festival, Wold Top Brewery will also host an Oktoberfest event on 26th September, offering another chance for locals and visitors to enjoy the brewery's unique atmosphere and quality brews.
