This spectacular event promises to be bigger and better than ever, bringing together the pulsating energy of bassline music with the grandeur of a live symphony orchestra. Created by local producer Tanya Vital, this unique show will feature some of the most iconic names in the bassline scene performing alongside the esteemed Orchestra of Opera North.
Bassline Symphony: A Unique Collaboration
Bassline music, often referred to as 4x4 or 'Niche music', has its roots in the clubs and raves of Yorkshire, emerging as a distinctive sound in the early 2000s. Over the years, it has become a significant cultural movement, shaping the lives of many and filling dancefloors across the North of England. The Bassline Symphony aims to celebrate this legacy by presenting the genre in a way that has never been seen before.
The 2026 event will feature performances from renowned DJs including TS7, DJ Q, and Jamie Duggan, who will share the stage with the orchestra. This collaboration is not just a novelty; it represents a recognition of bassline music as a vital part of the UK's cultural landscape.

The Bassline Symphony first premiered in 2025, as part of the Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture celebrations. The debut performance was a resounding success, with tickets selling out quickly, demonstrating the public's enthusiasm for this ground-breaking event. The 2026 show promises to build on that momentum, allowing more fans to experience this exceptional blend of genres. In addition to the performances, the 2026 production will include orchestral arrangements by Katie Chatburn, ensuring that the essence of bassline is maintained while elevating it to a grand symphonic scale. This fusion of styles aims to attract a diverse audience, from long-time bassline enthusiasts to those new to the genre.

The Bassline Symphony is supported by Arts Council England through the National Lottery Project Grant funding, alongside backing from the Bradford Culture Company. This charity has played a pivotal role in delivering the Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, a year-long celebration that included over 5,000 events aimed at making culture more accessible to the local community. Bradford Culture Company has been instrumental in the long-term transformation of the city, working closely with communities and organisations to foster creativity and cultural engagement. The return of the Bassline Symphony is a key part of their ongoing efforts to build on the success of the City of Culture year and to ensure that Bradford remains a cultural hub.
