Tramlines has always prided itself on nurturing emerging talent, and this year was no different. Sheffield artist Lavelle, who began her journey on the festival's smaller stages, expressed her gratitude for the opportunities provided by Tramlines. Now performing on a main stage, she celebrated her sixth number one on the iTunes R&B chart and highlighted the festival's commitment to supporting female artists in the music industry.
Comedian Tom Wrigglesworth, a familiar face at Tramlines, shared his enthusiasm for the festival, stating:
"It's the best day of the year in Sheffield. I come to this festival most years. If I'm not on, I'll come here and bring my kids."
This sentiment was echoed by many festival-goers, who praised the inclusive atmosphere and the sense of community at the event.
Heartfelt Tributes
One of the most poignant moments of the day came during The Everly Pregnant Brothers’ set, when they were joined by The Leadmill Studio Orchestra to pay tribute to the late photographer Glenn Ashley, who had documented Sheffield's music scene for many years. The tribute resonated deeply with those in attendance, showcasing the festival's connection to the local community and its rich musical history.
Tramlines on Track
The celebration extended beyond Hillsborough Park, with the Tramlines on Track initiative bringing live performances to Sheffield's tram network. This unique feature paid homage to the festival's roots in the Buskers Bus tradition, delivering music directly to the heart of the city and surprising commuters with spontaneous performances.
