|A Yorkshire-based dog food brand is on a mission to find the region's most deserving dog, whether it's a police dog, assistance dog, farm dog, or a beloved family pet. Pure Pet Food is looking for canines that have gone above and beyond to support their owners and communities. The winning dog will be celebrated as the Guest of Honour at Pure Fest, a special festival dedicated to dogs, taking place on Sunday, 27 September 2026, at Bert’s Barrow.
Pure Fest Celebration
Pure Fest promises to be a fantastic day filled with dog-friendly activities, food, and entertainment. This inaugural festival aims to give dogs their best day ever and will feature a variety of exciting events, including:
Doggy scavenger hunts
A Pure Pet Food station
Northern Bloc dog ice cream
Puppuccinos and dog-friendly Yorkshire puddings
A collar-making station
Professional dog photography
In addition to all the fun activities, there will be a Q&A panel featuring representatives from Pure Pet Food, Support Dogs, and vet and TV personality Julian Norton. This panel will provide an opportunity for dog owners to ask questions and learn more about caring for their pets.
Nominations Open
Dog owners in Yorkshire are encouraged to nominate their furry friends for this special recognition. The search is particularly keen on hearing stories of dogs that have made an exceptional difference in their owners' lives or communities. Whether the dog has provided years of service, supported someone with a disability, helped on a farm, or simply been a loyal companion during tough times, every story matters.
To nominate a dog, owners can comment on the nomination post on Pure Pet Food's Instagram page, explaining what makes their dog special and why they believe it deserves to be named Pure Fest’s Guest of Honour. Nominations will close on 20 September 2026, at 12pm, with the winning dog announced shortly after.
Supporting a Good Cause
While celebrating the incredible contributions of dogs, Pure Fest will also raise funds for Support Dogs, a national charity that trains assistance dogs for people living with autism, epilepsy, and physical disabilities.
Chris Daykin, Partnerships Manager at Support Dogs, expressed excitement about the partnership:
“The dogs we train at Support Dogs make a profound difference to the people and families they support every single day.”
He added, “We’re delighted and grateful to be part of Pure Fest and to see dogs celebrated for the extraordinary contribution they make to our lives.” The event aims to shine a light on the many stories of dogs going above and beyond for their families while helping to raise vital funds for the charity.
A Focus on Hardworking Dogs
Pure Pet Food has a long-standing commitment to improving the lives of dogs and their owners. Founded in 2012 by Daniel Eha and Mathew Cockroft, the brand gained national attention after appearing on BBC's Dragons’ Den, which helped elevate its profile in the pet food industry. The company aims to change the way owners feed their pets by using fresh, human-grade ingredients that are gently dried to preserve essential nutrients and flavours.
