|Local residents are invited to join Sue Ryder for a special event that promises to be both magical and meaningful. The much-loved Starlight Hike in the Worth Valley is set to return on Saturday, 3 October 2026. This enchanting evening will offer participants the chance to walk under the stars in memory of someone special, all while raising vital funds for Sue Ryder's important work in end-of-life care and grief support.
Event Details
The Starlight Hike will kick off at 6pm from Oxenhope Railway Station with an exciting ride on the Starlight Express train. Participants can choose between two walking routes: a 5km or a 10km trek through the picturesque villages of Worth Valley. As walkers make their way along the route, they will be surrounded by twinkling lights, entertainment, and the comforting atmosphere of shared memories.
After boarding the train, participants often dress in colourful outfits, adorned with glitter and glow sticks, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. A highlight of the event is the tranquil path that leads through the grounds of the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, where walkers can dedicate a star to their loved ones, making the experience even more poignant.

Rachel Binns, Regional Fundraising Manager for Sue Ryder, emphasised the importance of this even:
“Whether you have a personal connection to Sue Ryder or simply want to support a cause that matters to you and your community, this is your moment to make a difference. You’ll be part of a warm, joyful atmosphere filled with stories, reflection, laughter, and the chance to feel part of something bigger.”
Last year alone, Sue Ryder provided over 655,000 hours of expert care, highlighting the crucial role that community events like the Starlight Hike play in sustaining their services. By participating and raising sponsorship, walkers can help ensure that even more people receive the care and support they need during difficult times.
How to Get Involved
Those interested in participating are encouraged to raise a suggested sponsorship of £100 or more per adult. Standard tickets start from £23.80 per adult, which includes a t-shirt and a special medal to celebrate their achievement at the finish line. For groups of five or more, a 20% discount is available with the code TEAM20.
For anyone keen to take part, signing up before 31 July 2026 is essential to benefit from an early bird discount of 20% off the entry fee.
