The Abbeydale Road Beer Festival is set to make a splash in Sheffield once again, returning from Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August 2026. This year promises to be the biggest celebration yet, bringing together the best of craft beer, food, music, and the vibrant independent culture that Sheffield is famous for. Held in one of the city's most beloved neighbourhoods, Abbeydale Road, this festival is a highlight of Sheffield's bustling festival calendar.

Festival Highlights

Now in its fifth year, the Abbeydale Road Beer Festival has evolved from a simple local beer trail into a four-day extravaganza that showcases Sheffield's rich beer culture.

Organised by the Abbeydale Traders Association, the festival will feature:

  • 20 independent venues participating across Abbeydale Road.

  • A special North vs South beer trail, where visitors can taste and compare beers from breweries in both regions.

  • Live music and DJs providing entertainment throughout the event.

  • Limited-edition artwork by local artist Mila K, with her designs adorning festival merchandise.

  • A new Festival HQ at the Abbeydale Ballroom, serving as a central hub for attendees.

Exploring Sheffield's Beer Culture

Sheffield has long been celebrated as one of the UK's great beer cities, and the Abbeydale Road Beer Festival brings this reputation directly to the streets. The festival aims to celebrate the pubs, bars, breweries, and independent businesses that form the backbone of the city's vibrant beer culture.

Nicole Jewitt, Chair of the Abbeydale Traders Association, stated:

"Sheffield has a brilliant beer culture, and Abbeydale Road has one of the strongest independent trading communities in the city. Bringing those two things together during Sheffield Year of Beer feels like the right moment to make this our biggest festival yet."

Participating Venues

This year's festival will include an impressive line-up of participating venues, which consists of:

  • The Broadfield

  • The Gin Bar

  • Simz

  • Two Thirds

North vs South Beer Trail

The festival's North vs South beer trail invites visitors to explore and sample beers from both northern and southern breweries. This fun theme encourages attendees to compare different brewing styles and decide for themselves which region produces the best beer. To complete the challenge, festival-goers must collect stamps from at least 12 Beer Stops and up to 3 Wild Card venues, with a total of 15 stamps required for a prize.

Those who successfully collect all 15 stamps can exchange their completed cards at the Festival HQ for an exclusive limited-edition print featuring original artwork by Mila K. Additionally, the first 12 people to visit all 20 venues will receive a signed and framed print by the artist.

Entertainment and Activities

Beyond the beer, the Abbeydale Road Beer Festival is packed with entertainment options. Attendees can look forward to:

  • Live music and DJ sets throughout the weekend.

  • Food stalls offering a variety of delicious options to complement the drinks.

  • Special events, including a Voodoo Jazz session at Cole's Corner on Sunday 2 August.

Activities in the Abbeydale Picture House car park will also provide a lively atmosphere, making for a weekend filled with fun and community spirit.

Planning Your Visit

The Abbeydale Road Beer Festival is free to attend, with visitors responsible for purchasing their food and drink at individual venues. Each venue will operate its own hours throughout the event, so it's wise to check ahead for specific opening times.

For those looking to make the most of their festival experience, all the information needed to plan a visit is available at ARBF.co.uk.
