Wanted to visit York without the hassle of finding a good parking spot. Arrived at this park and ride and found it to be handy, large, well set out with really good waiting area. Buses ran regularly (about every 10 minutes). Buses were modern, clean and spacious. We were dropped in the middle of York, perfect for a touristy visit to the city. Really good option for us.
Plenty of free parking, quick trip into York City Centre. Shame the return journey was troublesome. Stood for 1 hour in very heavy rain waiting for bus 59. York city centre was in gridlock. Took some of the excitement and enjoyment away from our visit
Well posted, plenty of parking space. Regular buses and helpful and friendly drivers. Arrived in no time at York, easier than driving through the traffic. Return buses regular and posted well. Would definitely use when visiting York.
This company stole my money. AVOID AVOID AVOID! I bought two tickets for £7.80 at York Park and Ride at Poppleton Bar - service operated by first bus. The display said next but was 24 minutes, but after 20 minutes nothing had changed and the next bus was still showing as 24 minutes away. I asked the woman who sold the tickers to me and she said "Buses are not moving at the moments as they are blocked by a march". By now there were large crowds of people waiting. I asked how long it would be. She said "Could be an hour, could be ten hours." So, I asked for a refund and I would get the train instead. "Sorry," she said, "I can't give refunds but if you call this number tomorrow they will refund your money." So, I walked to the nearby train station and paid another £6.40 and took the train into York. However, the following day I was on the phone an hour with First Bus. Lots of long silences. Eventually the man spoke with a supervisor and said "You are not entitled to a refund because you could have just waited." I asked to speak with a manager but was told they are not available. What a rip off. They know I had no other choice, that I didn't use their service but they want to keep my money anyway. These large companies are rich, yet they still want to steal from the poor like some reverse Robin Hood. Total scumbags. Will NEVER use them again. By the way, it's cheaper to park in Poppleton village and take the train and the service is better.
Really can't recommend. Came on a Sunday and parked up easily enough. However, there was also a sizable queue for the bus which came 20 minutes later. Nowhere near everybody got on, including us - and the next one wasn't until 30 minutes later. As such it took an hour and ten minutes to get into the city. Which is bad enough, but then it was impossible to actually get a bus back as the queue snaked down the street and it was obvious there was again too many people waiting for the bus that would eventually arrive. Don't get me wrong, it's a good idea - but absolutely unworkable when the buses are every 30 minutes on a weekend. Turned what should have been a nice day out in York into a total nightmare. £12 was paid for the 3 adults as well . Honestly, don't bother.
