We tend to park here away from the over-crowed visitor centre. The MTB red route passes through so it's a great place to start your ride adventure.

We visited here on two occasions, once when an event was staged here, and again afterwards, to take in areas of the forest we missed the first time. The views of the forest from here are very scenic, and access to the forest walks are multiple. This is what draws people here, as the area is huge but very basic with only a couple of Porta-loos, for company. There are no pic-nic tables here but I did see a water tap, so a brew up isn't out of the question! The car park is vast and is of crushed aggregate not tarmac, however, the disabled will have plenty of room to manoeuvre as it looked quite smooth when we were there! The visitor centre is only a couple of miles away, it is excellent, and can fulfill most if not all of your needs.

One of, IF not the best car park in the united kingdom. catch this place at the right time of day, and you'll hear the gravel make a crunching noise when cars roll over it. One of Yorkshire's best kept secrets.
