We arrived yesterday (Xmas eve) originally due to check in at 4pm however we were offered an earlier check in from 12pm and were contacted a few days earlier to confirm this. Check in took 2 minutes and we found our lodge with ease We're staying in a bronze, 2 bedroom, pet friendly lodge with hot tub and due to a bit of a dodgy experience with a dog friendly lodge last year (it stunk to high heaven!) I was a bit nervous for this one, however it's been absolutely lovely. It was/is spotlessly clean, has blankets in the lounge for the dog and is just generally a really nice place to be. I'd brought a few extra bits like dish washer tablets and tea towels but there was some in the kitchen just in case we'd forgot. We are pleasantly surprised with the main bathroom and en suite too, which was well hidden with sliding doors! We've been to jjs for drinks outside in the beer garden (staff are lovely ) and lots of walks around the site, everyone is really friendly and it's really peaceful. We're hopefully going to book for next Xmas as we're that impressed! No complaints from us, the site is well maintained and everything is clean and tidy. When booking is confirmed you are informed that you will be 'charged' a security deposit a couple of days before arrival, ours was £200 which may seem expensive but it doesn't leave your account, it's just held which is normal practice these days, no more so than a restaurant asking for a non refundable deposit. The only thing I'll say which is an absolute desperate 'criticism', is, is that they have dish washer tablets, tea towels, washing powder along with all others sorts of essentials for cleaning........but not the 2 things we forgot for cooking (salt and pepper), luckily the garage along the road was open on Xmas day so we nipped along and got some there. I'm clutching at straws here as everything was spot on!
DO NOT COME HERE We came a few months ago. This is the WORST caravan site I have ever been to. We should have read the reviews before we decided to pay. They charge you almost the same amount of money it takes to book in as it does to cancel. They also surprise you with a £200 deposit fee. Scammers. The second we entered the caravan it was dirty. Dust, cobwebs, spiders, things that haven’t been cleaned and dirty plates. It didn’t seem like anyone had cleaned it. We told someone who didn’t seem to care that much and kept making excuses. Even other staff members who worked elsewhere said it looked disgusting. I honestly would not send my worst enemy here, it is pure filth. I’m not sure how this place has a 4.3 star rating. There are plenty of better caravan sites we have been to near here. I urge everyone to look elsewhere as long as it isn’t here. They can’t meet the basic expectations that every customer expects. It’s dirty everywhere. The utensils have clearly not been cleaned. When I asked why it was so disgusting the manager keeps making excuses and said that it was privately owned. Still not sure how that means that means that they can leave it unclean. When I asked the manager if she would be happy to stay in a caravan in this state, she ignored my question and said she’d get the cleaners out tomorrow morning. The cleaners didn’t show up so I had to go to reception to ask. The people at the desk even said it was disgusting.
We had an amazing few days away at Allerthorpe. We nearly didn't make it, due to me being admitted to hospital, just beforehand, but Jemma and Lily were both so helpful and understanding. I can't thank them enough for their help. The lodge was amazing, it did need a bit of dusting, don't think the bedside lamps have ever have been dusted. The lodge wasn't spotless but it wasn't dirty. It definitely would not put us off visiting again. We also visited JJ's restaurant and would highly recommend it. Ellie and Beth were amazing. Beth was interacting with our youngest daughter. Ellie was a brilliant waitress, helping everyone, even our 9 year old asked if we could leave her a tip as she was so kind and helpful to everyone. We didn't do much whilst we were there due to my illness but looking forward to returning again once I'm better. Thank you for a wonderful stay and for everyone being so genuinely nice.
Great place to stay, immaculately clean rental property, gorgeous and clean hot tub with no smell of chlorine. Would highly recommend staying here and would definitely love to return. Booked on the same day as arrival, with a perfect location. The only issue was the tv which seemed complicated to use. Staff were great to help with this. It is peaceful here and a short drive to a lovely little quaint town.
AVOID THIS CARAVAN PARK This caravan park is disgusting (as you can see by the pictures. It had cobwebs everywhere. It didn’t look like it had been cleaned in weeks) I went through the company to get a refund but the manager said that she doesn’t want to. I sent proof over to the company and they said since the managers said no, they can’t do anything about it. The manager (Samantha) had a disgusting attitude. She saw how dirty it was, ignored when I had asked if she would stay in a caravan as dirty as this and just walked away when she got bored. I paid around £600 for only a few nights, I left early as someone I was with kept getting up in the night from how dirty it is. There are MANY caravans that are cheaper and that are in much better condition than this one.
