|Ever wondered about the story behind the "quiet Beatle"? While John and Paul often grabbed the headlines, George Harrison was a musical powerhouse in his own right, with a life story that's anything but quiet. And this autumn, a special stage show is bringing that very story to audiences all over the UK and Ireland. The acclaimed production, Something About George - The George Harrison Story, is getting ready to hit the road for a major tour, making it the perfect celebration of this true music legend. If you're a fan of The Beatles, great song writing, or just a fantastic night out at the theatre, this is something you won't want to miss.
So, what's the show all about?
Think of Something About George as a live biopic. A biopic is just a fancy word for a show or film that tells the story of a real person's life. This production isn't just a collection of songs; it's a journey through the incredible life of George Harrison. From his early days in Liverpool to becoming a global superstar with The Beatles, and then his amazing solo career, the show covers it all. It explores the highs and lows, the songwriting, the success, and everything in between.
The fantastic production comes from the very same creative team that brought audiences shows about another famous Beatle, John Lennon, with Something About Lennon, and the genius songwriter Paul Simon. So, it's safe to say they know how to put together a brilliant tribute to a musician. After getting rave reviews since it first opened in 2021, the show has wowed audiences everywhere from the Edinburgh Fringe to sold-out tours. This isn't just a concert; it's a full-on celebration of George.
Who's playing the music legend?
Stepping into the shoes of George Harrison is no easy task, but West End star and talented musician Daniel Taylor is more than up to the challenge. He returns to front the production, not only singing the iconic songs but also telling the fascinating stories behind them.

If his name sounds familiar, it's because Daniel Taylor has a huge list of stage credits. He's played John Lennon before and has starred in massive shows like Blood Brothers. He's even performed Shakespeare in New York's Central Park. He'll be joined on stage by a brilliant band of musicians, led by Musical Director Joe Smithson, to bring the music of George Harrison to life. This entire production is a must-see for any fan.
More than just a one-man show
While Daniel Taylor is the star, a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to make a tour like this happen. The show is brought to audiences by producers Bill Elms, Jon Fellowes, and Gary Edward Jones. Bill Elms, of Bill Elms Associates, is a key figure behind this stunning production. According to a recent press release about the tour, co-producer Bill Elms is thrilled to be taking the show on the road again. He says:
"While it's now more than 20 years since the world lost George Harrison, his voice lives on through his wonderful, matchless music. The response of audiences to Something About George since it was first staged in Liverpool in 2021 has been nothing short of amazing and shows just how loved and admired he was both as a man and a musician."
"I'm excited to present another UK tour of this stunning show, including two nights in George Harrison's home city Liverpool where tickets are already selling fast. It's an opportunity to revisit cherished old friends and to stage the show in new venues, and I'm also pleased to be able to take it back to Ireland where we received such a warm welcome last spring."
What music can you expect?
Get ready for a treat. The show is packed with beautiful songs that defined a generation. You'll hear some of George's biggest solo hits, like the uplifting My Sweet Lord and the classic Got My Mind Set on You. The setlist also features music from The Traveling Wilburys, the incredible supergroup George formed with Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, and Tom Petty. Expect to hear tracks like Handle With Care. And of course, what would a show about a Beatle be without some Beatles tunes? The production includes some of the most beautiful songs from the Fab Four's catalogue, including the timeless ballad Something. It's a fantastic mix that showcases just how incredible a songwriter George Harrison truly was, from his time as a global icon to his later work.
