This lovely traditional bakery and cafe offers a warm welcome for both take away purchases and sit in cafe-dining. I visited for a soup and a roll, and a warming cup of coffee. All were excellent, and very tasty, and reasonably priced. The service was with smiles and a pleasant word. The bread served with the soup was delicious and fresh. The atmosphere was a-buzz, as people warmed and chattered by the open fire. Certainly a good find in this little town. ♿️Sadly (due to constraints beyond the owner’s control) these premises are not wonderful in terms of accessibility with steps up into the shop, narrow spaces between the tables and an entirely inaccessible washroom with narrow door.
Was just outside Kirby for a relaxing weekend and a friend recommended I visit. Oh wow am I glad I did. Such a nice little bakery and cafe. So friendly. Had to go back before I came home to grab a few more goodies. Got myself an Italian chicken butty too and I can hand on heart say it is the best butty I have ever had. I will drive back just for a cake and butty.
I’ve been coming to this café for 40 years. The cakes and home cooking are delicious. The cosy dining room with wood fire is very welcoming. The front of house staff are super helpful and friendly. On this occasion we tried to order some mushrooms with the sausage bap. The chef took exception to this and yelled for several minutes, refusing to add mushrooms and claiming he was too busy even though we were the only customers. Feel sad for the lovely staff who shouldn’t have to put up with this.
Great homemade food. The menu is excellent and although there's sometimes a wait for a table it's well worth it. The best place in Kirkby Lonsdale for lunch. It's dog friendly too 👍
Wow! I only dropped in for a light bite and a drink and was pleasantly surprised at what was on offer. The choices our party had tasted fantastic, and is probably in some part to the food being cooked on the premises. We were so impressed by the quiche that we'll calling back on our way home to buy some to take with us!
