A warm welcome awaits from Lorna and Dave—and their two dogs, Muppet and Mayhem—who instantly make you feel at home. They’re a lovely couple, easy to chat with and clearly passionate about what they do. Rooms are comfortable and practical, offering great value for money. Breakfasts are delicious and served by a lovely, attentive lady who sets a cheerful tone for the day. The barman is equally brilliant, friendly, and quick to make sure everyone’s looked after. Food here is excellent—well-cooked and full of flavour. If anything, perhaps a little variation in the potato dishes would add an extra touch, but that’s a minor point. Best of all, it’s genuinely dog-friendly. My usually nervous dog soon relaxed, and by the second night was giving Lorna a nose press. A wonderful place that proves the true country pub still has heart.
Oldie world traditional pub in a stunning location. Nothing fancy, quite a large food menu. A bit pricey and if I’m honest everything seemed to be £18.95 We ate and the food was tasty. Portion sizes were a bit haphazard though, I ordered the Guinness sausage and mash with gravy, but the portion of mash was very small, the other people who we were with had decent portions. Decent selection of drinks to be had. It’s very very dog friendly, so if you don’t like dogs, swerve it. We sat near the entrance and it was a non stop stream of people with dogs. Lovely friendly staff and the food came quickly.
Warm welcome, care and attention from husband and wife team running the Inn, with chef/s also adding to the level of service producing good home-cooked food. The Inn is traditional with a range of accommodation and communal rooms (i.e. bar, restaurant, lounge area) and has been well-maintained and equipped. It is a good location for visits to Sedbergh and the Lakes.
We stayed here a few nights ago as we were meeting friends. The rooms are basic and a little tired but had everything we needed. The bed was comfy and clean and we had a great nights sleep. The food in the evening was lovely, and the breakfast was good too. Over all really pleased with the stay. The pub is traditional with a roaring fire, 🔥 beautiful
We stopped here for two nights a few weeks ago. It is an old and traditional pub with rooms above. The food was great and staff really friendly and attentive. A good base for hiking and visiting sights around the area. Highly recommended.
