Every time I’m in Kirkby, Bumblebee Gallery is a go-to! The most thoughtfully curated shop that’s family ran, each artist whose work they host is hand selected by the mother and daughter who run the shop, both trained in their own disciplines in the art world. it’s a lovely, cosy shop and a nice peaceful retreat into beautiful artwork, with endless pieces to nosy through and admire with the incredible gallery wall they offer. Unlike most galleries they display things from multiple art disciplines, including sculpture, wool work, metalwork, and much more, making it a real feast for the eyes if you enjoy looking at handmade things! Bumblebee is a real safe haven that’s been built from the ground up by the family, and my favourite spot in Kirkby!

I love this shop. Have bought some amazing art work from there and lots of other lovely things. Really lovely owner with a passion for art. Takes time to tell you about the artists. You have to visit if you are going to Kirby Lonsdale. Lots to choose from, supporting local crafts and artists. Support this lovely small business.

Treated with no respect due to not having a face mask on. Left the shop feeling humiliated, after being questioned and ordered to wear a face mask. Our reasons are our own for not wearing a face mask. I shouldn't have to explain myself, my decision should be respected just as I respect hers for wearing one. I am double vaccinated, do lateral tests each week, keep my distance from everyone else and only touch what we want to buy. Fortunately for this encounter has saved me from purchasing from a rude, bullying and intimidating person. I'd rather take my custom else where then give into her pocket.

I was not allowed in without a mask. I have severe breathing problems stopping me wearing a mask and was offered to use a store mask which apparently had been cleaned. I explained I could not wear one due to a severe disability and got told I was not welcome. So if you want to be publicly humiliated and discrimated against for an invisible disability this is the place to go. But if you are slightly different and have a genuine disability best to avoid this place unless you want to walk away feeling like an outcast in society. I wasn't even spoken to kindly or allowed to explain I am on a twice weekly testing regime, had had covid a year ago and am double vaccinated. So sad in 2021 people are still discriminating people with disabilities

Beautiful new gallery in Blackhall Yard, Kendal. Stocked with really unusual handpicked items - I've chosen both gifts and things for my home. It's wonderful to go back and see what's new!
