Drove an hour to Barnsley parkrun this morning where the volunteers recommended Locke park cafe for after parkrun. With me being a slow runner I expected it to be really busy when I finished but luckily there was a table left. 10% discount if you show your barcode, I had a really tasty bacon and tomato sandwich and an americano just what was needed before my long drive home. I would certainly visit again if I was in the area, really friendly girls and fast service my sandwich arrived quicker than the coffee.

A convenient place to stop and grab a quick coffee while out for a walk. It was quiet at the time, although that was likely due to the time of day. The coffee tasted great and was reasonably priced. However, the cleanliness standards were very poor, the chairs were dirty, there were dust webs, and dog hairs on the shelves. The portion size of the fudge cake was disappointing for the price, and being served an end piece from a freshly uncut cake was unexpected and a bit dry. Service was okay and fast.

Family lunch here today. Good choice on the menu and very good value for money. It was a busy Saturday lunch time so the cafe was full. Kids meal for £5 was a great deal! 😄 Great coffee and we enjoyed our food. The only thing that lets this place down is the how dirty the toilets are, the sink is filthy, it was covered in muck and dust so unsure of the last time it was cleaned. Changing table is a perk if you have a baby but again it looked grotty. My worry is the staff using these toilets are the ones who cook the food. Overall a great little place to call in for a quick bite to eat or an ice-cream but whoever is in charge needs to take a step back and really look at the standards of cleanliness. The menus were sticky, the table needed wiping, the cutlery didn't look great, it just needs a really good clean!!!!! 🤢

The cafe is nice, some of the staff are okay, but some seem like they are there against their will. The food isn't always good. Last time, the fries were burnt while the chicken nuggets were undercooked. However, the cakes are very good. On busy days, like during a festival, there isn't enough staff. They only have one cash register, so people ordering outside have to wait a long time. You have to wait about 35-45 minutes for food, even for a simple sandwich. I think a good solution would be to install a screen or a speaker for when the staff calls out orders. No one wants to stand by the cafe for 40 minutes waiting for their food. Many people, for example parents, go to the playground and can't always hear the staff shouting. This would not only help customers but also save the staff from losing their voices. I understand that it's a busy place because it's the only cafe in the park, but unfortunately, it doesn't deserve 5 stars.
