I wanted to learn a bit about the history of this great little place, and despite its small size there is a lot packed in. Worth a visit and free to enter. You can leave a donation which I did.
It was a nice visit, the staff were quite friendly and informative. For us as a family with growing children, there was perhaps just something lacking the wow factor of visiting here. We all noted how amazing the grand old elevator looked, which I don't think is an exhibition 🤔 😅
A very welcoming free museum. Wonderful for children with all sorts to look at. Personally I found the local celebrity display case with Charlie Williams original This is Your Life book particularly interesting. It's a small museum and doesn't take long to look around so well worth your time to pop in. There was a nicely stocked gift shop with reasonable prices.
Great museum about the history of Barnsley. I particularly enjoyed the recent history from the last 100 years or so. It's free with voluntary donations and definitely worth visiting for an hour or two.
I went to Barnsley museum to see a exhibition about Tutankhamen. It was one small room and most of the artifacts wasn't even real they were fakes. it took no longer than 25 minutes to see the fake artefacts and I was so disappointed and felt like the museum didn't really put enough effort in to the exhibition.
