Furness Roofing came from a recommendation.It was evident from the first meeting with Mark that after many years in the roofing business his professional, knowledge and commitment was second to none & we have no hesitation recommending them.We have a very large Edwardian property which required a complete new roof.Marks team were punctual, hard working and trustworthy.He keep in touch with regular updates including delays due to Weather conditions.Big shout out to the Scaffolding team too who were excellent.

I hired Mark Roofing to inspect my roof after noticing dampness in one of the bedrooms at the gable end. When Mark came down, I asked him to take a look inside the bedroom to see exactly where the problem was. I also showed him some photos, as the dampness appeared to extend beyond just the corner. After assessing the situation, he told me that the only issue he could see was that the roof felt at the front needed replacing. He assured me he would send an email with a quotation attached. A week later, I received his email with the quote. Although it was on the high side, I reluctantly agreed to go ahead with the work, given his good reviews and the fact that he was registered with Fair Trade as a professional business. Mark then proceeded to replace the front elevation of the roof. Coincidentally, the following week (February 2023), it began to snow—and once again, the same problem persisted. I called Mark back, and when he returned, he claimed there was nothing wrong. He applied some silicone to the plastic trim and said that identifying the source of the leak could be difficult. I was extremely disappointed. After spending so much money, the issue remained exactly the same. Fast forward to November 2023, and the problem was still unresolved. I contacted Mark once again, and this time, he told me that the roof needed to be completely replaced because the tiles could be porous. I was shocked—he had never mentioned this at the start. Had he done so, I wouldn’t have wasted £1,400 on work that ultimately didn’t resolve the issue. From the beginning, I had suspected that the problem was at the gable end, just as I had originally told him. However, Mark dismissed this and instead said, “It would mean putting the scaffold up again, and it’s not easy to find where the water is coming in.” Frustrated, I asked a friend to take a look. After inspecting the work, my friend found that Mark had cut the felt short, cut the battens short, and also cut the eaves guard short. The eaves guard was actually allowing water in, and it wasn’t even resting on the beam correctly. As a result, the support was water-damaged. Mark is far from an expert—he is completely unprofessional. Personally, I would never recommend him to anyone. I’m sure if Mark reads this, he will claim he tried to fix the problem. But the fact remains: he had three chances to fix it, and he failed every time.

Furness Roofing carried out work to fix dry ridge and verges and repair the valley gutters to our house and garage. They did an excellent and very professional job. Mark was very accommodating and communicative; he identified additional problems as the work progressed and explained these fully and dealt with them promptly and very efficiently. All in all the work was undertaken to a high standard with a minimum of fuss and in a very timely manner. I was very pleased with the end result and would not hesitate to recommend Mark and his team.
