Sadly this spot was probably once half decent but a lack of care/investment this place is battered do not get catfished by the photos on websites or instagram. It’s expensive for what it is toilet stinks some kind of entertainment would maybe help but it’s run down to within an inch if it’s life. No lights work there was dog tod left from previous guest, grass over grown worn out paint everything’s rusty and battered I would advise to stop in a tent nearby save ya self some money. You can only book minimum two nights which is a joke in its self, avoid.
My partner and I stayed here in June. What can I say, other than it was the perfect weekend. The Engine shed itself is stunning - with all the amenities you could ever require, set in beautiful décor. The tranquil setting and views only making the whole experience more amazing. The wood burning hot tub being a highlight - matched by the delicious food (breakfast hamper being our favourite). The couple that run the Engine shed were a delight and couldn't have made us feel more at home if they'd tried. I cannot recommend the Engine Shed enough.
Everything you'll ever want for an off grid glamping experience great for the family and super secluded which was fabulous! Easy check in. Great communication when booking! Hot tub was truly amazing and all of the little details were just perfection. Our kids loved finding the Gruffalo and stick man books in the beds. Great place to spend quality time together and connect with the beautiful nature around this little hidden gem. We absolutely loved visits by chickens too! All round amazing place and would truly recommend to anyone and everyone! Thank you so much x
We stayed here for one night when we walked the Cleveland Way this month. It's a little off the trail but well worth the detour if you're in the mood for not-just-another-b&b. The shed itself is beautiful with very comfortable beds and a well-equipped kitchen. We'd ordered a stew for our evening meal and a breakfast hamper for the morning and they were both amazing – so much delicious food! And the icing on the cake was the wood-fired hot tub, which got up to centre-of-the-sun temperature pretty quickly and was a wonderful balm for our aching walking muscles. I can't recommend The Engine Shed highly enough. 10/10.
Sadly, I feel that whoever owns this place has either lost the love for it, or just doesn't have the time for the up keep. This place could be amazing if someone put their heart into it. From the grass not being cut, to finding a dead mouse/vole in the grass the minute we arrived, it was not great. No cushions on the outdoor seating, no beanbags in the garden. We brought our own projector to play movies however the screen is not there. The firepit looks nothing like the photos, half the bulbs don't work in the garden. Zero lighting around the hot tub, so on a night, it's too dark to enjoy it. Some of the bulbs don't work inside the engine shed neither, and we only found 1 working socket. There's a twin socket in the kitchen area, however only one plug works. On a serious note, the lighting on the path and steps down to the engine shed is nonexistent. This is such a health and safety hazard, as when its dark, you can't see unless you put a torch on your phone etc. Also the mess all over the path. Surely this could have been cleaned before any new guests arrive. Check in isn't until 4pm however checkout is at 10am. This gives plenty of time to do simple tasks such as cleaning, checking bulbs work etc. In the description it fails to mention that the toilet is actually an outhouse. Basically, it's a wooden enclosure with a seat to sit, but actually, it's just a hole with a bin under it. Therefore, the amount of flys is unreal. We left early before our stay was due to end. Feel so disappointed as this was our first holiday together as a couple. The photos on the booking site are old, they don't reflect how it is today. Feel like this was such a waste of money on a holiday that could have been amazing. Sadly we wouldn't return
