Staff very welcoming on arrival had drinks before going to table great service Our food was fantastic. Muscle in black bean and ribs I had shredded beef in birdsnest soft noodles hubby had 3 meats and special fry rice nice choice of wines lovely cocktails and I finish with Irish coffee it was our 40th anniversary so we loved it definitely going back
Visited the China Rose on Saturday 24/01/26 for my daughters 13th birthday with family, seated quickly and efficiently, at table 13 go figure! Had the ribs to start which were lovely then had the birds nest with beef, beef was lovely have to say the birds nest was not as good as it used to be, that said I am refering back about a decade amd recall it to be more akin to a birds nest! All in all a great night good food and good service
All members of staff went above and beyond to cater for us! My partner has a tree nuts allergy, and the chef and servers made sure that he could have access to as much of the menu as possible, by frying separately to the cashew dishes. I had also dropped my bracelet in the car park, and the staff went out to find it after we left the restaurant. Delicious food, and lovely staff. 100% worth every penny.
This is without any doubt, the best Chinese restaurant in Yorkshire. With a car park included, a dress code is in place, a shirt is required for gents and no shorts. Food is excellent, on top of quality and the facilities are amazing and plenty of space, don't need to be sat in less than half a meter from the other table. Service is absolutely outstanding as well , very focused and pending for any request, it is a very pleasant experience every time I come with the family. Price is according to the quality, don't expect fast food pricing for this standard and this service.
I have been a regular customer at the China Rose for over 35 years. As a rule I don’t usually write reviews but from visiting last night for a celebration I felt the need to leave my honest opinion and feedback. If Harry the restaurant manager or the owner wishes to contact me after reading this review please do so. I would first like to mention that the restaurant it’s self was freezing we were sat in the bar area and there was no heating on at all so we decided to go straight to our table to see if it was warmer it was not there were other diners sat with there coats and scarfs on. This is completely unacceptable it was mentioned to the staff and the restaurant manager more than 3 times and we were told that the heating was broken but would get warm soon it did not. You cannot open a restaurant and still serve food to paying customers without heating when it’s 3 degrees outside apart from that the management should have made a courtesy call to all the customers prior to arriving to make them aware of this. The service was also poor when we ordered our food hot plates were brought to the table but it took another 15 minutes before the food arrived so the plates were then cold and we had to send them back by the time the warmed plates then arrived again the food had already been delivered with the fact that it was so cold in the restaurant the food didn’t stay hot for long. I did during our meal when the manager asked if everything was ok mention all these issues but he didn’t really say much. When we had finished our meal we were asked if we wanted a drink on the house so we ordered 4 Drambuie and 2 coffees. The manager then came back and said we don’t have Drambuie anymore and haven’t had it for about 2-3 years now when you have been to a restaurant for over 35 years and have had a Drambuie after almost every meal and are regular customers who visit 2-3 times a month we gave never been told that. I am really disappointed in the whole experience for the first time in a very long time. The food has always been top class but not on this occasion either. I just wonder whether the head chef Jason is still present in the kitchen or not. All in all a really poor experience overall and as all customers are fully aware it is probably the most expensive cantonese restaurant in the area but the majority of customers like myself don’t mind paying for quality food nice surroundings and great service but on this occasion it did not happen and I will not be returning anytime soon. China Rose what is happening!!
