Came in last night and the restaurant was absolutely heaving. We hadn’t booked, so we were seated in the waiting area, but thankfully the staff managed to fit us in. It was great to see the place so busy. We came on a recommendation from the pub across the road, and we’ll definitely be back. My husband and I shared the Nawabi and the Adrak—the new creations—and both were equally delicious. Service was top tier. Thanks a lot, boys. See you again soon!
Absolutely spot on. Managed to get us in at the last minute on a Sunday night, when they were extremely busy. Had heard good things and was not disappointed. Food and service were brilliant. Asked for recommendations as we wanted to try something different but still have a familiar taste to what we normally have, and the waiter recommended something new but light and delightful, much better than we expected. Will definitely be back, and we promise to book next time.
We were recommended to visit this establishment by a friend who has visited numerous times and to be honest, we weren't disappointed. Upon our arrival, the staff made us feel very welcome. We were seated at a window table and promptly served drinks, allowing us time to peruse the menu. Many of the dishes offered, apart from the classic curries, looked intriguing, so we decided to ask for more information. My mother-in-law got the Nawabi chicken and it was really good and I got the Suully with garlic naan which was incredible. The waiter who served us was very knowledgeable and made excellent suggestions for us to try. I will definitely be going back there.
We tried the Sunday offer and had a fantastic experience. There was a wide variety of dishes to choose from, including poppadoms, starters, and curries, all for just £20 per person. We dined in as a family of 10 and everyone enjoyed the food. The Chicken 65 starter was especially delicious — highly recommended!
An absolutely fantastic restaurant - excellent service and great food - It irks me these days that I can rarely find a curry house that serves hot curries that actually have some heat; but, Lancers Restaurant is one of them. Although, my initial expection was placed in skeptic mode on being presented with version of a dish I hadn't come across before - Ordered a Prawn Puri, received what was really a simple prawn curry ( সহজ চিংড়ি কারি ) on a roti ( রোটি ); - and that led me down an investigatory rabbit-hole; The dish is coconut ( নারকেল ) heavy but then it is Bengali Restaurant - and supprisingly I enjoyed despite my preference for non-coconut dishes. The main was described as fairly hot - being labelled ( লাল মরিচ / lāla marica ) red chilli on the menu heat scale - it wasn't overly hot - gave a tingle to the chops; this to me is basic heat intensity and what I'd expect for a madras (which they label as yellow ~ medium ); So, there's still a ways to go - but, at least, as I say, it tingled the chops and the Lamb was tender and flavoursome ~ which is what I'm looking for in a curry. The staff were pleasant, attentive and helpful - food and plates were hot (as they should); so all in all great experience !!! Well Done Lancers Please note: I was a Lancer, so I may be slightly bias on the naming front!!!
