The Bull and Lobster Bawtry

The food, atmosphere and service are second to none! Special shout-out to James, our host and waiter, and to Craig, the Head Chef. James was attentive and engaging throughout the evening without being intrusive. We had a sense that he genuinely enjoyed his job and was happy to be there. Craig, well, a refreshing change to see a chef comfortable leaving the kitchen to engage with customers. It was obvious he was a true chef and not a microwave cook. Nothing was too much trouble, even down to customising the menu items. Alex, the owner also came to the table to check everything was okay, top man. Then the food. Oh my days, we could not fault anything. Steak cooked to absolute perfection, Chicken Supreme, melt-in-the-mouth tender and perfectly cooked. I made the brave decision to try the Scallops for the very first time, based on James’s recommendation, and they were incredible. I have no idea what a perfectly cooked scallop is, but in my opinion, these were perfect. Based on the service and food quality, we would say the restaurant is very good value for money, and look forward to returning for my pre-booked 20oz Ribeye.

We took advantage of a fabulous dine and stay offer with lobster, steak, Prosecco and delicious starters. We’d never been before and the place was heaving! So good to see as it gave a great atmosphere, lovely singer in the background, stunning food and the best lobster I’ve had in a long while, meanwhile hubby polished off the Tomahawk steak which was cooked perfectly. Great attentive staff, clean comfortable room with a comfy bed to boot. We will definitely return for our fortnightly escapes from business and kids! Thanks to the whole team xx

birthday meal for my wife, we have loved the experience from start to finish the food exceeded all expectations from previous reviews and the service from Izzy and Georgina (sorry if we got the names wrong) we cannot recommend highly enough we can’t wait to come back xx

Booked for a date with son for his birthday over a lunchtime period and was nice to see a few tables filled. Son opted for scallops and we were pleasantly surprised to see the quantity and quality for the price point. The asian style sau e was amazing 👏. Son chose venison in dark chocolate and raspberry sauce with fondant potato and i went for the haddock. The venison was perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth whilst the fish portion was huge. Definitely a winning menu. Thank you Carl and Josh for preparing a great meal and for James and Izzy their hosting skills.

Had lunch on Saturday afternoon and what an excellent meal we had. Food was delicious, great Atmosphere. They even catered for my wife, who can only eat certain foods for medical reasons, by preparing something off menu. All this was handled by the excellent James who looked after all 4 of us all afternoon. We will really appreciated that.
