My god what a dump. Full of local drunks. Place stank inside and was visibly shabby , outside was just a smokers paradise and just crammed with old sweats.

The bar and seating area was accessible, quite cozy later in at night. But the whole pub stunk of cooking fat including the accommodation. We stayed a night in a room offered at £80 a night but it was not worth it at all. Accommodation is in serious need of renovation and a good cleaning. Due to the state of the accommodation we didn't feel that we could eat there. It's a real shame, it is a historic pub that could be so much more. I would not recommend this place one bit! I would not stay again. I do not understand how other people have put good reviews.

Great beer and a friendly service. Food looked good too although we didn't eat this time. Dogs were made welcome (bowl of water was much appreciated!) and the patio at the back was a lovely sun trap.

One of the worst pub experiences in all my years of drinking. Avoid this place if you're not a fan of aggressive 'locals' offering to 'take you outside' because you're winning their hand earned dole on the fruity. cunchofbunts

I tell you what - the dog that was wandering round here absolutely loved a belly scratch. Ear scratches, not too fond but still good. Back scratches - he wouldn't get out of bed for them. Head scratches were apreciated and respected though.
