After reading some of the reviews we were a little unsure what to expect, but my mother-in-law is a big fan of the place. Couldn’t fault it. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food was freshly cooked, decent portions and tasty. Price wasn’t too bad either. It’s a shame they’ve stopped table service, but it was still a really enjoyable visit. Traditional chippy done properly.

Superb fish and chips sorted an order for 15 people in 15 mins not sure rest of queue were impressed but anywhere that does haddock cooked in skin in dripping is a proper chippy

Disappointing Experience I recently visited a fish and chip shop in Bedale and ordered 2 portions of fish and chips. I was told there would be a 5-minute wait, and I saw the cook put fresh fish in. However, when my order was finally ready, I noticed only one of the pieces was freshly cooked. The other fish had clearly been sitting there since before I arrived. I raised my concern, explaining that I expected both fish to be freshly cooked given the 5-minute wait. The cook insisted that the older piece had only been there for 3 minutes, even though I had been standing in the shop for at least 5 minutes and saw it when I arrived. He assured me it was still "good," but unfortunately, it wasn’t. The fish was cold, limp, and the batter was soggy and overly greasy. The chips tasted stale, like they had been sitting in the hot hold since the day before. To make things worse, the woman serving just shrugged it off, saying, “I just serve.” The customer service and atmosphere were equally poor. Overall, a very disappointing experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.
