Great choice of second hand books. Lovely gothic atmosphere downstairs, and fun upstairs. Loads of activities, events and clubs to join. For example, book club, creative writing, toddler groups, pop-up shops and much much more. Would highly recommend
Such a great find. We were made to feel very welcome, great proces and a good range range of books. There's a stay and play area upstairs for younger children (6 and under I'd suggest).
I made a visit during my stay in Bedale this weekend and it has been a true highlight of the trip. I spotted the shop hidden away and immediately knew I needed to go in. The whole atmosphere was exactly what you would hope for in a quality bookshop. I was greeted on arrival, I'm so sorry I didn't catch your name, but it was a lovely welcome. I browsed around the diverse selection, taking great interest in the Tolkien selection with some cover designs I have never seen before. Unfortunately, i didn't have long but I managed to pick up a stunning Dickens hardback for a very good price. There were even coffee making facilities (I believe) and a piano. I probably could have been in there all day!
What a lovely little book shop, entering the shop is like stepping into another world. A friendly proprietor and a welcoming atmosphere. For book lovers it is well worth a visit.
My son loves going with his Nana to "stay and play" here, definitely recommend to those with little ones and obviously to book lovers
