Went here for an 80's night a few weeks ago with family staying here overnight for a visit. The nightlife was good fun, lovely beer garden with lots of flowers. Dog friendly. Family stated the rooms were great for the price and nice and comfortable. Would visit/recommend for accommodation again.
A brilliant two night stay with family. Great location, next to all the shops and short walking distance to Bedale Hall and park
Lovely pub in a small town in north Yorkshire. If your looking for places to stay here you already know about the walks and beautiful countryside and this little gem of a pub sits right in the middle, great range of beers and full of friendly locals and travellers alike. The hosts can't do enough for you and just generally a great place to be and stay... Rooms are clean and tidy and modern and well turned out. You get what you pay for and possible look a little steep to start but are about the going rate. Would deffo stay again :-)
We went here for lunch on the basis of a recommendation. It is located on a busy Road junction, so if you plan to sit and watch the world go by, expect it to be in a truck or van driving past the window. We were the only people (apart from the staff) who were present. The woman behind the bar was friendly and hospitable enough but the decor inside was dated and the stools were low and uncomfortable. The food was cheap and unfortunately it lived down to expectations when it appeared: it was standard reheated dishes with little flavour, microwaved until it was volcanic, and with little sustenance. The vegetable lasagne, for example, was a lot of sauce with cheese on top, without much in the way of pasta or vegetables and little flavour. Overall, disappointing and not really somewhere we will return to.
We had a very pleasant lunch in their little sunlit courtyard. Lovely service, and a prompt and free replacement of my wife's beer when she tipped it over the table.
